10 Years of Kelvin Sampson at Houston

Exactly 10 years ago tonight, Kelvin Sampson’s first official game as head coach at the University of Houston began with this dramatic victory at Murray State.

In the 10 years since, we’ve lived to see this program resurrected from after-thought to nationally relevant and most important of all, regaining our status as an elite basketball program in the State of Texas.

While we haven’t lived to see us celebrate a national championship in the 10 years so far, it now feels like it’s just only a matter of time before Houston can get there and with the recent efforts in recruiting in the past few years especially in the years of making the NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament in consecutive years, may the next 10 years ahead finally deliver at last a national championship.

Yeah way too much wind resistance. It’s crazy to see how the uniform styles have changed in 10 years. Dudes are back to showing off the quads now

It’s hard for me to get my head wrapped around the fact that he’s been here 10 years. It doesn’t seem nearly that long.

And we’re on our 6th head football coach during that same period (including the interim). :no_mouth:

I still remember attending the press conference when he had to get up and say all the right things. I remember thinking, I cannot believe we got this guy and we have finally found the right coach.
