100% the TYPE of students we accept

I’m a middle eastern myself.

MSA is having their own section.

SHPE has their own thing at games.

All international orgs do their own thing at games because why freakin not, they all go together.

But UH tries to make it all about the Greeks who leave after the first quarter.

Nothing wrong or out of touch with 30+ year olds finding 20 year olds attractive and acknowledging it. The old fashioned thinking is that you have to be within a certain age to date someone. Now there is a wide range of people that are over 10 years apart dating.

Can you elaborate on your insight on “why some old dudes are out of touch”?

Next, “how would any of us know” well there are tons of studies and research for marketing and advertising that tells us that good looking people help sell or recruit. Do you think the hefty guy got the job based solely on acting skills? or the ads on web sites selling solar panels with busty women are total failures?

This would be very entertaining to me to read, please elaborate.

There are studies, but the average Coogfans old dude is not apart of the research team(s) conducting those studies. Nor do we get to walk campus, take mental snapshots, then generalize the dating pool of kids who are a generation apart from ourselves. It makes absolutely no sense. Busty women dude? Really? Maybe the product they’re selling is actually good.

I mean do they pull data that has the consumer explicitly say “yea I bought the solar panel that will power my home because of the busty woman in the ad” ? That also makes no sense; if that shallow reasoning (which is totally unrelated to the efficacy of the solar panels) is the deciding factor for purchase, then we’re doomed.

lol You already know what I’m getting at. No need to elaborate. I already prefaced my original post as an unpopular opinion. Fact is people like what they like, and I’ve already said that’s fine. However, people are also going to have different opinions about what is and isn’t ok. It is what it is.

The reason I chose UH in 1987 is because I saw a news segment about the Houston’s Hottest calendar and all the attractive women on the UH campus. And during my time at UH part time students were allowed to be cheerleaders and a good portion of those cheerleaders moonlit at local strip clubs.

I don’t see the doom in that.

Thanks for the insight lol

I chose UH because of the hot girls I saw during my campus visit and also Case Keenum/Coach Sumlin/Dr. Khator.

Maybe no doom if that’s your reasoning for choosing UH. But if a “model” is the reason someone chooses to purchase everything then, yea, there’s doom in that.

“I want a refund, the model on the add tricked me into buying this car that has been known to explode”. :joy:

The model is just the flashing light to get your initial attention. Nothing more to
it after that. Then it comes down product quality, cost, reputation, reliability, etc.

Now for an 18 year on a campus tour, if during campus A tour they see lots of
nice looking girls/guys , and far fewer on Campus B tour…well it’s off to school A we go.

The only 30+ year old men complaining about other 30+ year old men talking about girls in their 20s are those that are either a) happily married/ in a relationship b) have let themselves go so these women have no interest in them or c) bitter

Strong assumptions there guy. Maybe some of us find it odd that men twice the age of a kid, want to get with them. I mean really, what is a 40+ man going to get from a kid that can’t even rent a car, or get a mortgage without(you guessed it) the help of their parents(adults).

Having a different opinion does not make us ANY of the things you’ve mentioned. I think people feel passionately about both sides of the topic, but hurling presumptive insults is funny. Maybe that’s why you prefer to align yourself with college aged girls, same level of maturity. There, now we’re even.

What about those women who defy your assumption and are making 6 figures before graduating and do have alot in common with older guys?

The “let’s all get horny over girls young enough to be our daughter” threads were creepy no matter how you spin it.

Making 6 figures before they graduate college STILL does not exclude them from laws that prohibit them(due to age) from the things I mentioned. The amount of money you make does not determine if you’re of a certain level of maturity.

Though, outliers will exist, having money is a byproduct of maturation, not the other way around.

Again, people can like who they want to like. My original argument was in response to person saying the girls on campus are not good looking enough to impact enrollment. To that I simply stated, maybe the appearance of the young ladies are not a problem to the young men they most often connect with.

Not sure how it all devolved into what age group has social norm permission to date another age group. lol

You can rent a car under 25, you simply pay a premium. And with money you don’t need a co-signer for a mortgage.

I understand the original premise of your comment. With 30k students on campus obviously guys aren’t choosing not to attend simply because some people have a different definition of beauty.

My choice of attending college was based purely on prurient reasons. My son is choosing his college based on academics.

Different strokes.

As far as how this affects UH and football? Even when we had strippers for cheerleaders the astrodome was dead.

Whoa, whoa. Wait a sec. I’m going to need to see some evidence.

Unless I’m mistaken, @Moncoog is referring to Karen Foster, Playboy Playmate, who was a Cougar Doll, not a cheerleader.

I was in the band when she was a Cougar doll, “Dolly Parton junior “ lol, my dad would come to the basketball games just to watch her lol

The wildest section/student organization of today was drumroll

The Muslim Student Association.

They were keeping it live in the 200 section, and when the rest of the student section cleared out, they came down and filled it in and kept going.

All it took was a connection and an opportunity for them to have their own spot. They took it and ran.

They outnumbered CV3 and Bleacher Creatures. They were louder than the Spirit of Houston. They were involved.

So it isn’t the TYPE of student we accept. Give them an opportunity, make the connection, and for Pete’s sake UH, keep it going where ALL ORGS have an opportunity to show up, show out, tailgate, be wild, and everything.

The international students/diverse orgs do better than Greek. Prove me wrong.

Do not know if you are being purposely dense or if you really have no knowledge of advertising.

I will assume the latter. There is an old adage that sex and puppy dogs sell. It is based on the idea that for an ad to work, the target audience must first look at it. People will look at those topics among a crowded area full of ads. Thus a good looking person or a cute little animal gets the viewer to look at the ad which is the first step in it having any effect.

This has nothing to do with the average Coogfan, but human nature. Any young man full of testosterone will look at a good looking person of interest.

You get serious about men talking about attractive women, then you turn into a jr high kid with “You already know what I’m getting at. No need to elaborate”. Yes, spell it out, I do not know what you are hinting at.
