I think the Pro Football & Sports Network All American selections have a much greater impact on draft standing than AP or Coaches polls. I don’t know which round Tanner will be drafted in, but I think he will be the first tight end selected.

Great kid and he is so lucky to have a great family around him.

Happy for Tanner Koziol. The gold standard for TE at UH is Riley Odoms, but I would put Koziol in the top three TEs UH all time. I wish UH had Koziol for more than one year.

…and friends he choose to play for us. Let that sink in. I trust in HCWF.

And he even left a P2 after Spring training to join us!

He probably realized in Spring training that Wisconsin was really going to suck this year, and sought out something better.

I believe Carl Hilton was an All-American TE as well.

Sporting News 1st team.

I wonder if Koziol’s pro career as a receiver will be better than Hilton’s.

Hilton had only three career NFL receptions.

Hilton was an unbelievable athlete at 6-5 235.

Goes to show that while a lucky few make fortunes in pro sports, there are a jillion physically gifted guys who only get a cup of coffee in the bigs, if that.

Tom Beer and Don Bass were pretty solid TEs and high draft picks for UH too.

If you want to read a funny football history book, check out Beer’s Sunday’s Fools about him playing for 2 of the worst franchises (at the time) in NFL history.

My top three UH TEs are Odoms, Hilton and Bass. Koziol is right up there. Alvin Ruben was a high school All American at Baytown Lee in 1976, and played TE at UH, but was moved to DE after his first year. Ruben had a nice career in the NFL playing for Green Bay and Denver.

We have to mention that during the Run and Shoot era, UH did not have a TE on the roster.
