Glad you had time to whine about whining, though.
Iâm tired of hearing people talk about how bad our fan support is. Weekday games make it worse.

A few years ago, Colorado would have been the biggest game on our schedule if it was a non-conference game. So would Texas Tech. So would Arizona. So would West Virginia. So would TCU. Guess what? We get them all at home. This is a good home schedule.
OK?
Friday night?âŠ
Off the top of my head, both UH and UCF need the automatic bump in ratings Friday provides. This kills 2 birds with one stone.
Itâs actually probably a bit of a win on behalf of both schools that Yormark was able to get that done.
Objectively, the networks probably would have preferred another matchup, but I know Yormark wants to seed the Houston and Orlando markets a bit and have better averages to show at negotiation for said markets. Add that to Colorado, itâs a good opportunity for UH and the conference as a whole. Your average ratings WILL take a big jump because of these two games.
We didnât have any non-Saturday home games last year (2 away games) and I think we had one in 2023. We have three in 2025 (at UCF, home games vs Colorado and SFA).
I get the need to have them, but ratings will only matter if the teams matter. What sucks is losing two Saturday games out of 7 home games. Still, when weighing that against playing day games in September, give me the night lights every time, even if attendance suffers.
Friday night home games are pretty problematic from a recruiting standpoint. Youâll get maybe 10% of the number of visitors as youâd have for a Saturday game.
I perfectly understand that the network opted to put the Colorado at Houston game on Friday night. What I donât understand is that the University of Houston decided to put the Stephen F Austin game on a Thursday night. The day of the week never affects me because I donât miss games, but many who would come to a season opener on a Saturday wonât on Thursday.
UH could raffle a one year full ride scholarship to a student at the end of Friday home games to a student in attendance with a game ticket. It wouldnât cost the school that much and could make for a big crowd.
Is it the students that donât show or the alumni/ average fan?
I imagine both, but there are enough students to fill the stadium with what fans that always come.
OK, youâre an absolute clown.
Our HIGHEST rated game last season was TCU on Friday night
Do we not understand how crucial it is to get our TV ratings up?
That, and not attendance, largely drives school brand value.
The attendance will come as 1) we win 2) establish football games as a UH cultue 3) accept more traditional students aligned with that culture.
We achieve that and Friday night will not matterâŠin fact our ratings will dictate we beling in a prime time spot, on Saturday night.
We have to build this thing methodicallly, piece by piece
The ratings for this one will be even higher, thanks to Prime.
And attendance should be good simply because Prime will cause the casual sports fans in town to come out to the game in greater numbers than usual.
UCF is a different story though. Friday night for that game will probably cost us some attendance, though like TCU last season, it may still get us some good ratings.
A boost for the program (hopefully) but sucks for me. But thatâs life in the big leagues.
UH plays UCF in Orlando 11/7/25. UH has enough attendance issues to worry about, let UCF worry about theirs.
Do I watch Ganado vs East Bernard or Colorado vs UH?
I hate the dilemma I am in. I donât mind an away game on Friday because I can still go to my hs games.
Colorado vs UH, ofc.
At least weâll trend on social media when we beat them
