2 games moved to Friday

Ah, got it.

I don’t care as much if it’s a road game.

Thanks!

Hopefully. Don’t forget Colorado has another Friday night game two weeks before ours against Georgia Tech. They bomb that without Sanders and Hunter, I don’t see near as huge a national audience.

Easy decision watch UH lol

We should play on Saturdays to be more traditional.

Look at the big brain on this one.

Ordinarily, I might agree with you on this, but since we are playing against Prime, and he is sure to draw a bigger crowd than normal, I’m not too concerned about attendance or the appearance thereof.

And our TV ratings will probably good, like last year’s TCU Friday game.

It mostly depends on our record, and to some extent, Colorado’s. If one or both teams are mediocre, the crowd will be weak and we’ll hear about traffic, parking, high school football, Astros, and all of the other reasons. If both teams are good, it could look like the Lamar Jackson Louisville game.

Their coach isn’t going to sell out our home game though. :slightly_smiling_face:

And to be clear, I’m not really “concerned” about it except from the logistics of getting to a weekday game from 4 hours away.

Maybe not sell out, but Prime will bring some additional casual fans out that wouldn’t ordinarily be there.

At least on Friday nights, no one will complain about the sun

What difference does that really make, beyond a little chest-thumping? I don’t think our conference payout has any bonus kickers for high-rating games. How much above average would ratings need to be in order to drive ESPN or other to raise the payout?

It’s really only a consideration when looking at realignment issues, and a one-off weekday game that will automatically have higher ratings is of limited value in that discussion anyway.

I kind of think we talk about TV ratings more than they actually matter.

I hope not, TV rating is one of our good metrics

It’s good to have good numbers, and if ours are better than other B12 members then we’re in good shape if/when there’s more realignment movement. But I think those viewership numbers matter more when compared against other games playing at the same time. Did we pull viewers away from another game, draw higher than an SEC match-up at the same time, consistently outdraw other schools, etc.

To the extent a Friday game increases the average, that’s better from a big picture standpoint if we start looking for another conference. Otherwise, I don’t think it means a whole lot. Our program benefits much more from a stadium full of energized fans than from TV ratings, for sure.

Unfortunately our Saturday games in day suffer from poor attendance do to heat and other factors, so timing really matters for our fans. Night games in September is the obvious preference

Believe me, as someone who sits on the north side, I know. It’s brutal for day games, and I’ve talked to a lot of fans who just aren’t going to suffer through it.

The bottom line is that our attendance is weak unless the team is winning at a high level, regardless what days the games are played. Just gotta win games.

We had a thread on how awful Pezmen is because he started a game 5

If we are mediocre next season…we have BIGGER PROBLEMS.

This will be CWF’s second season… after a full transfer offseason.

WE had better be competitive this season.

Our schedule is a cupcake with A LOT of sprinkles!

What makes our schedule cupcake?

A really weak OOC schedule…no P4s

Stephen F Austin
Rice
Oregon State (hemorrhaging talent since the PAC exodus)

We do have last years champion- ASU. No BYU. No Iowa State. No KSU

Massively easier than last year’s schedule

Last year’s schedule was one of ranked as one of the toughest

But agree, we need to win our Non conference games before we play Colorado. Yes losing to SFA or Rice would show we have a problem

Do not underestimate the Colorado hype train. The network will be pimping this game all week. Coach Prime is a publicity magnet. There will also be interest in the QB who replaces Shedeur Sanders. The QB getting the most pub is former Cedar Hill HS QB Kaidon Salter, who transferred in from Liberty. Julian Lewis is the hotshot freshman QB also in the mix, but I expect Coach Prime to go with the experience of Salter.

Depending on the weather, I would be disappointed if UH could not draw 35,000+.
