Got a bad feeling about this one. No way that we come close to reaching the same attendance that they had this year with that field (No LSU, A&M #1 TCU, Baylor, Tx Tech, Ole Miss). Can see the Astros using next year’s attendance drop as an excuse to keep us out of the tourney frequently.

Why do you think the Astros don’t see value in UH?
I’ve heard that Reid Ryan took over running the College Classic and he’s a TCU alum. Supposedly, he was the one that pushed for the Big12/SEC matchup this year. Not going to be much better for us without Jamie Hildreth there now.
But, attendance had been dragging for years and they needed something to perk it up. Problem is, if you don’t bring the big Texas schools and/or LSU, the attendance won’t be that high. This year, they were able to stack it so of course it was high; next year, even with us there, the matchups aren’t going to bring out the casual fan.
Honestly, they should try to get one of the Silver Glove Series games for the Classic every year; that would be a huge draw locally.
I wonder why they took SHSU over Rice. Swap those two, and it looks a lot better on paper.

As I understand it, now that C-USA expanded to 14, they play a conference series that weekend.
