Mumphish will get in because of the circus act that is coach Penny Hardaway. M’eh. :expressionless:

We aren’t a mid Major! That term applies to traditional one bid conferences. People need to stop misusing that term. So annoying.

If we are ranked #21, how can we be less that a 5-6 seed logically?

top 4 - 1 seeds
next 4 - 2 seeds
next 4 - 3 seeds
next 4 - 4 seed
next 4 - 5 seeds
next 4 - 6 seeds (#21 falls in here)

Because it remains a “subjective” process

What makes those projections really egregious is all the computers have us even higher than that. Ken Pom we’re #11 and Sagarin we’re #12.

The AP Poll is just College basketball writers across the Country. They are pretty much Zero part of Committee or play a very very sm role when Comm looks at all the metrics to get SEEDING done as accurate as possible.

First thing I did was look at the source on where write up came from – “The Score”. All the major publications don’t ever include AAC as part of any MID-MAJOR Conf. I’ll say it again if you Google mid-major confs you will never see AAC part of the list. There’s about 23-24 Confs under MM title but not AAC, BGEAST. Just part of what Coog Nation has to deal with ongoing basis.

Lunardi has UH vs Indiana in the first round…oh the story lines for that one.

I beat that drum all the time. But ESPN has its announcers pushing it all the time as well. They fear that it will catch on and cost them money.

I never hear any ESPN announcers call AAC mid-major Conf on Basketball side. On the Football side yes P5 vs Grp5 but I watch lot BBall on ESPN and can’t signal out any announcer or analyst who calls AAC a Mid-Major Conf. #NotThere

Next year, the AAC is going to be one of the saltiest basketball leagues. With the exception of Cincinnati, I think all of the top tier teams are extremely young. Adding experience and maturity, we could very well be a five bid league next year.

Cincinnati should be good to, they have 2 really good retuning players (Williams Vogt) and have the second best recruiting class, outside of us… with 2 ships to give… likely the best recruiting class when it’s all said and done

Even losing UConn shouldn’t hurt the league. UConn hasn’t been good in a long time since Kevin Ollie left.

Houston - Top 10 team
Wichita State - Top 20 team (return everyone except Echinique, bringing in a pretty solid forward)
Memphis - Top 20 team (return everyone except for Precious, I’d imagine they’ll bring in at least 1 touted recruit)
SMU - Top 25 (return everyone, get Darius McNeill eligible)
Cincy - Top 35 (lose Scott & the Cumberlands, return everyone else; also bringing in some good players)
Tulsa - Top 50 (lose Igbanu and Lawson, have two pretty good transfers that become eligible next season)
USF - Top 50 (lose Rideau, bring in Caleb Murphy and get Alexis Yetna back; I may have the Bulls too low here)
UCF - Top 75 - they have some very good young players. Lose Ingram, Milon, and Bertz)
ECU - Top 125 (bring everyone back)
Tulane - Top 150 (lose KJ, I think they’ll be pretty equal to this year’s team)
Temple - Top 150 (lose Rose, Alani Moore, and Damion Moore; I expect Temple to finish dead last in the AAC next season)

That’s how I see the conference shaking out next year. With 7 teams in the top 50. 8 in the top 75. With the hope that VCU or Dayton are added this summer.

That would be a pretty awesome scenario. Not only because it means more money for the conference, but also If UH won the league with that salty of a schedule our NCAA seeds would be pretty dang high.

Just got back from Vegas. Put some money down on our Coogs. 50 to 1 right now. We definitely have a shot. Defense travels, as they say. We’re gonna be a tough out.

Ranked teams have been left out before. AP ranking and tournament seeding don’t have that strong of a correlation.

Only thing Vogt had going for him is 7’…

He had no skills.

And don’t give me…you cannot teach height !! He is just not athletic.

Incorrect on Vogt. Not a great athlete but he is skilled and he does make a difference protecting the paint.

vogt is good…teams have started to sell out on him, so he hasnt been amazing the last 5 games …but the first 20 games on the season he was top 10 nationally in fg%, and considered automatic if he got the ball in the post

vogt isnt dominant, he wont take on a double team, or beat elite defensive bigs…but he is definitely a weapon, if you get him the ball 1 on 1 in the post against the average big its automatic points …
