Have I ever mentioned I love bowl games?
Do you have him on record as saying that? Most coaches like the bowls simply to allow more practice days.
When did you grow up? I remember 7-3 and even 6-4 teams going to bowls when I was a kid in the 50âs and early 60âs. I donât remember the 40âs since I was only born in 1947. I know aTm went to the Cotton Bowl in January 1968 with a 6-4 record in the 1967 season. When I was a freshman at LSU, they went to the Cotton Bowl with a 7-3 record and beat #2 ranked and previously unbeaten Arkansas 14-7. In 1956 Tennessee went to the Gator Bowl with a 7-3 record.
Iâm talking about on average. You just didnât have fourth place teams going to bowls. There werenât many and a lot of people were left out.
Yes, and anybody whoâs been on these boards for any amount of time knows why. Do you still work with the Texas Bowl people?
Nope
My solution to there being âtoo manyâ bowl games is to not watch the ones Iâm not interested in.
I already do that which comes down to all the games UH isnât playing in.
And the schools in the bowls are obligated to buy 10,000 tickets at face value to cover the costs !!
It is like a confidence racket for the âlocalâ communities !!
My favorite bowl, after the one UH is playing in, is one filled with Gumbo . . . . .
