2021 offers

his offer list isnt impressive becuase its only may and no aau…mills had no offers before junior aau year, hinton only had small time NC offers…and walker has never done big time aau before…this was supposed to be his aau year. if you dont follow high school which most coaches dont youd have no idea who he is

but for the sites that follow houston area high school basketball he is being debated as the best houston area 2021 player. most were expecting him to blowup in aau

this year has a chance for a lot of programs to get talent they otherwise wouldnt have. if you like stars this might not be the year for you, but if you like talent this is the year to steal alot…

i think this will benefit houston as we traditionally scout and offer our main targets before they blow up in aau…hinton, shead, mills, mark were all offered as unranked or super low 3stars…then later became 4star/high 3star players…we seem to have deep ties in NC and some texas circles that we get heads up on who to recruit…
this year is a a great opportunity as often times the unknown kids we offer go to other schools after they blow up…

I don’t disagree with any of that other than I don’t follow high school all that much so don’t know much about him personally.

And yeah, I get more excited about stars because I don’t have much else to go on. But like I said, if our staff wants a guy early and we get him I’m definitely always good with that and agree that they’ve shown a great history of identifying great players before other coaches and the recruiting sites get there.

Snow said on the 247 board it’s possible he could be a 4 star after they evaluate him.

Very unexpected great news!!! Any chance he graduates early and joins the team mid-season…a la Caleb Mills?

Welcome Ramon!!! Hopefully we’ll all get a chance to be mad at you for leaving early right after you win a national championship!

Good gawd this team is loading up with ballers!

I am very happy with this pick up.

Again- I was just curious.

All that you guys said makes perfect sense.

I imagine he’ll be a top 150 prospect. High 3 star, low 4 star.

How many more ships do they have to give in this class? Still need at least one or two more bigs, correct?

This is an interesting question. Not sure about scholarships, maybe 1 more.

I think we all WANT another big, or a really big player lol, like 6’10 plus.

Would be icing on the cake and probably should be a focus.

Technically, we have 6 bigs. So we don’t “NEED” another big.

Gresham, Powell, the redshirt, gorham, the mid range assassin, Broodo.

We have ONE available to use for last year class of 2020 which included Mark, Shead, and Powell. We could add a player to be on the upcoming season roster or hold it for the 2021 class ( early signing week is in Nov). Ramon Walker is a commit for the 2021 class. That class originally had 4 open ships ( covering this years seniors White, Gresham, Gorham, and Jarreau). So we have a couple scenarios that could play out:

Jarreau stays in draft and we have two open 2020 ships and three senior ships opening. In this scenario we could actually have as many as 5 to give this November or as little as 3 if Sampson brought transfers in with the two 2020 open ships.

Jarreau comes back. In this scenario we have one open to use on a transfer and 4 open for seniors. Here we could have either 4 or 5 ships for November depending on if Sampson holds the open 2020 ship open or uses it now.

Another scenario is Samspon and staff believing that Grimes is gone after next season and that would add a possible 6’th ship to give this Nov. Remember Sampson over signed last year quessing correctly at least one player would leave.

So we could have as many as 6 ships to use this November. So far we have Ramon so could have 5 more to add bigs. I know we are also after the 6’ 4" Juco guard at Kilgore College.

One of my many pleasure in watching coach do his recruiting is imagining how he blends them
together into a powerhouse team–and he will!

So Brian Snow knows someone on the inside.

I think he just reached out to him.

Snow has been the most accurate predictor of our recruiting over last few years.

All I know is this man is one killer recruit, and I know he will only get better, and he is going to help us get similàr minds and ability. It’s a great start!!
