Every single college team would get steamrolled by the ANT. Move on. Identify what we did good and build on it. Identify the weak points and work to minimize them. This is August. If these problems exist in February, we have reasons to be very concerned. I strongly suspect that our defensive rotations are still being learned by the new guys. It takes a lot to learn the complexities. And even if we had all returning players, Australia was still going to smack us around. Gāday mate.

specifcally to @olutrain NO ONE said bahamas was better than australia or even hinted at thatā¦ you made up a strawmanā¦there were 2 separate points - kansas looked really good vs bahamas (not referencing the score but the film), they are a team to worry about ā¦ with no comps to australia or how we looked, just that kansas looked good ā¦i also want to point out the ridiculousness of your postā¦ basically saying you are just trash if you arent in the NBA (which seems to be the basis of your point)-- most of the bahamas roster are careered euro pros (And 1 college star), the average age of the roster in 29ā¦ and you noted ālost in a close game to the 56th in rankingsā that 56th ranking (out of 165) was without eric gordon, gordon was on team usaā¦ that scrimmage was his 1st ever game with the bahamas

Hard to really argue one way or another based on a box score: None of us saw the game. I never thought last yearās team was going to make a long tourney run and I still see similar traits from the bigs carrying over. That said itās August and not February.

i think this team has potential, just has some issues that need to be cleared upā¦
i really want to see what a tugler/ francis line up will look like, and figuring out what kind of offense weāll have when the 3s arent falling vs a good team

Iām simply countering the knee jerk responses that because we got blown out by Australia that means weāll get blown out by Kansas. Seems like that would be a direct comp being made.

the statement is kinda strongā¦ but from a technical point he isnt wrongā¦kansas is the preseason #1 team and the closest we will play to australiaā¦ australia is better than any college team but the closest college team to them is the #1 teamā¦and we dont want to get blown out by kansas
we have questions about size and they have a 1st team all-american center (preseason #2 player in college basketball after edey) ā¦ and 2 elite defensive guards (harris {reigning big 12 dpoy} and mccullar{#2 defensive guard in the league})ā¦for a team reliant on guard scoring (us) ā¦ i dont want to get blown out by kansasā¦i dont think itll happen (hopefully) but lets not act like a comfortable win for kansas isnt something that might be a possibility

Sure you can isolate every phrase of his statement but as a whole itās knee jerk and reactionary. An exhibition against Australia does not foreshadow how the season is going to go and what the outcome of playing Kansas will be. While they ātechnicallyā might be the closest team to Australia we will play this year, the gap between us and Kansas is much smaller than the gap between Australian National Team and Kansas which is the grounded perspective I and others are trying to convey. Furthermore, a comfortable win for Kansas is entirely possible. A comfortable win for us against Kansas also is possible. Because itās college basketball where crazy sh-t happens. If Kansas blows us out Iām not going to be too pressed about it. There are many worse fates than being spanked by the No. 1 team in the nation. Like losing a Q4 game.

Well, Iām really glad you made this postā¦.
We had a couple of people making really dumb commentsā¦.they were in a sense of befuddlement as to how we got beat so badlyā¦.apparently there was nowhere to find any information on what kind of team we were playing yesterdayā¦.I thought Australian National Team would help with that but nope.
And some made some wild predictions based on the āBOX SCOREā!
How do people even make comments on a game they did not see one second of?

Some good points were made by Nate and there certainly were some who used this last game as a reason to be concerned. I have read it here and on FB.
