2024-2025 Houston Cougars Basketball Season

On the subject of CKS coaching tree, how about a long overdue shout out to Alvin Brooks down at Lamar. A very rough first couple of seasons but now has two good seasons finishing second in Southland this year.

They get double-bye and face Nicholls most likely on their side of the bracket (they beat in both meetings this season). If they can win their semifinal game then most likely McNees stands between them and an auto-bid.

I doubt they reached out, but taking that job would have been a mistake for Q, unless his goal is to just pocket as much money as possible in his next job.

If a guy is coming out of a Sampson program, he’s going to be a builder, and he’s going to be humble enough to know that part of building requires that he learn how to run a program. He wouldn’t get the chance to do either of those at UT.

He’s absolutely making the right kind of move.

Wow !

I’m happy for Q. Selfishly, I’m really bummed. He is a monster recruiter :frowning:

Congrats, selfishly also, is anyone going with him? Ryan Elvin, Hollis, there’s several that could.

And when is he leaving? Can he stay though the tournament?

Congrats to Coach Q! Wish him the best of luck in the SBC. Hope he brings Louisiana big time success.

The Guard Whisperer is a dope nickname lol

Wish we had a big budget so we could match the salary that Louisiana is giving him

thats just me being greedy, im sure the bump in pay will be nice, but moving forward in his career is what matters. wish him the best

I’ll never forget him filling in during the covid year when we played South Carolina. If I remember right the team came out flat and we were down 4 going into the break

we went on to beat them by 14 in the second half and win the game

Just so we are clear, Milos is 2nd team all conference.

Mayo from Kansas is 3rd team all conference but makes the All-Newcomer Team and Uzan doesn’t?

Did they think Uzan was at UH last year?

I’m certain this isn’t a money thing at all.

He was in the Big 12 last year.

He’s not new to the Big12

Mea culpa. You guys are totally right!

That is ticky-tack of them though

Its not about money. It is about professional growth. If Q turns ULL around he’ll have major programs recruiting him. He needs to prove he can be the head guy. Sampson says he is ready and that is good enough for me.

Love all the awards the team got… All well-deserved.

The one thing that is causing an eye twitch is Milos Uzan getting Second Team All-B12 with Zeke Mayo getting Third Team but Mayo edges Uzan out on the Newcomer Team??? hmmmmm…
