Outside of Auburn and the Player’s Choice. Am I wrong for hoping for minimal spread coverages, but lots and lots of bench development?

it wont be an issue either way… outside of the vegas games, and the auburn game…we are killing them, even the decent mid majors

we are winning 20+ on all of them, those are the games that our culture alone can win …we arent a dominant rebounding team like previous years, but we are against teams with 6’8 220 centers, I worry about our ability to score, not against mid majors that regularly give open 3s

To me its not about margins or who is on the court. I’m hoping we don’t just take the easy way in those games… jwan can single-handedly postup every play and we win by 25. I’m hoping we work on things that translates to big 12 games …there will be easy post points in most of the non con…there wont be in the big 12… i hoping we establish some good perimeter offense in the noncon.

an example is that it’s not out of the question for one of these mid major teams to have a 6’5 defender That they’d target on lj because he’s our leading scorer, but then have a super small center in the post. we could just ignore LJ and get all the post points. Im hoping we take the challenge and tell LJ to get some buckets on that 6’5 Defender

We will do what is required to win games. Take advantage of mismatches in the post until they try to take it away. Then we move the ball around for opportunities.
If healthy I do see this team as a dominant rebounding team. What can make us elite will be Sharp and TA being plus rebounders at their positions.

Love that we are scrimmaging a team with a strong PG and bigs who can attack the boards.

Butler could be the unexpected interesting game

Bama/Auburn will be fun close games,

Rutgers I want to play because they’re going to have so many draft prospects and I think that’ll be a really good game for all guys and improving draft prospects, in a game that’ll be used to comp them later on in the season. but basketball wise we probably winning 15+… we might have trouble defending some of them, too many tall players with guard skills, Bailey is 6’9 with crazy handles… but they lack toughness, one of their recruits might go off on us individually, but we likely still comfortably win

Notre Dame is interesting in that their top 5 last year were either true freshmen or sophomore (top 2 freshmen) with the top 4 coming back, and had a 1st year head coach … but were 13-20, they are likely a year or 2 away … would be shocked if its close if we played them

Butler is the intriguing team. they might surprise some people. we are probably coming in with an expectation to win by a big amount, but they have a Hall of Fame coach. they took a big jump from year one to year 2 under him (NIT) and return a lot of what they did last year. if they have any kind of similar jump like they had year one they could actually be a decent team and play us close

I meant not to look at individual games in a bubble but to use games which would have a comfortable advantages to build strength for other games. development over the season

Sure once we are up by 30. I imagine we will do what works best each individual game to build our lead and then get to see the bench have opportunities to finish games doing the same thing.

this is what i was talking about with the LJ disrespect

they are doing backcourt rankings

they have us #14, its a group average of 4 people, not one of them had us top 10…

they state our back court as Milos, Lj, Sharp, Mylik, Mercy and ramon

their reasoning for ranking us so low is that they dont think LJ is anything special, and not a fan of milos (they do love sharp though)…
ive talked my points about LJ before, but i dont get the milos points… they are questioning if anyone can get them shots like jamal (question milos as a playmaker)… milos ā€œflawsā€ were softness, shooting and getting to ft line… playmaking was never seen as a weakness for him…if he could shoot he would be in the NBA right now for his playmaking

teams ranked about us:

uconn- their guard core -
hassan diarra - 6pts per
aiden mahaney - inefficent 13pt scorer who is bad on defense
soloman ball - 3pts per last year
Ahmad Nowell- #37 recruit

ranking is on going only at 12

The problem with these evaluations is they focus on past performance. Let’s see what Sampson does with Uzan, which can’t be factored in, nor can Miller. L.J. has another year of Sampson under his belt and will be more comfortable in his role.

Looks like Milos on the Daspit NIL train

agreed , but i dont think being an efficient leading scorer of the #1 kenpom team is that bad…especially when you are ranking uconn above, you have no one that notable

Been watching your videos today. I’m currently watching the LJ one right now. I predict him to be an all American.

Having our guard group ranked anything outside the top 6 is crazy to me. We are so deep at guard we were questioning if Chase redshirts lol. Guard play from the bench will be way better this year imo.

I still keep going back and forward on who I think will end up starting at C come conference play. My gut tells me JoJo, but this years Francis felt awfully light Roberts elite 8 year. You just felt he was inches away from breaking through. From the highlight I have seen so far from the pro league and team socials. I think this is the year it all clicks for Francis. That’s a scary thought to have to deal with one of Francis or JoJo at all times.

247 had positional ranks aswell…

none of it makes sense to me
not a top 10 back court, they wont rank us at all in the wing rankings, and they wont rank us top 20 in the bigs rankings’
if we arent top 10 in anything why are you ranking us top 5 then?

I have like 4 minutes worth of people just talking down and down playing LJ from different podcasts, i’m legitimately thinking of just clipping them together putting in on Twitter and tagging LJ, As like a motivational clipboard thing but I’m not sure if that’s doing too much lol

ill be shocked if francis doesn’t start year round I can only really see us changing that if we get embarrassed in a game we were supposed to comfortably win and I just don’t see us getting that kind of embarrassed to switch up the lineup. But I think Jojo’s offense will play a big role in deciding just how many minutes Francis gets. An extreme cases that I could see is Francis starting with fourteen game minutes and JoJo coming off the bench with like twenty six minutes

As far as Redshirts are concerned I’m really happy we got to play Texas a&m in the scrimmage because I think they’re really gonna push us, if not flat win. we’ll really see how the players look before having to make any Redshirt decisions. I think that’s going to be a huge game inside and if Mccarthy played this year or not because if we’re getting killed and Mccarthy comes in and becomes like a huge defensive presence I could see him playing this year

I can actually see us getting humbled some in the scrimmage, and it won’t change my views on this team whatsoever being a title contender. It is just all part of the process. If we are ready preseason for an amped up experienced team after losing to us twice last season then LOOK OUT nation.

its hard to beat in a team 3 times in a row, with how much they have coming back…even phelps who they added is familiar with us from SMU. …and theyll definitely come in extremely motivated with how we ended their season… and im certain we’ll be messing around with our roster… i can definitely see a loss there, but im with you in that it wont matter or change my opinion of the team…

Not sure what I am more excited about seeing our backcourt lead by LJ, Sharp and Uzan or the front court with J’Wan, Francis, Tugler and JMc swatting shots
All that and the depth of our roster with TA being an indispensable Swiss Army knife on both ends of the court.

The elephant in the room will be how well we match up against teams with elite PG play. Not a better fire to be thrown into than Milos having to chase Wade Taylor all over the court

Oh man you gotta do this. please please.

LJ is low key in person but that stuff gets him fired up. When we played Baylor he hit a deep 3 and had no emotion but he was arguing with Baylor fans on twitter afterwards.

FRONTCOUT!!

I feel like Sampson has never had a front court this deep. The defense will be on another planet. But I think this group will shock people offensively. Especially with a guard like Uzzy

This!!

I hate to sound negative on Uzan but i could definitely see TA closing some games at the beginning because Uzan hasn’t adjusted to how we play
