Our starting PF is JWan Roberts ? He’s been scoring plenty.
We can disagree on if teams will intentionally foul Uzan… not happening.
He’ll be just fine.
Tucson are you Pearland’s twin??
So it’s “easily predictable that our pg will miss the front end of a one-and-one”?
Must be so much fun knowing how everything in life will play out and it will all be negative.
Another Eeyore amongst us.
I correctly said Uzan misses 1/3 of his FT attempts.
That is simply a fact.
Have personally attended Final Four games where our players missed front ends of one-and-one FT’s, and we lost. The opponents knew who to foul, and they did.
These are just facts. Predicting this all will happen again is not exactly rocket science by simply looking at our team stats.
I want to see UH win The Final Four in San Antonio. The lack of scoring from Tugler and the FT shooting stats tell me that another shortfall is coming.
Things that happened in the 80’s have zero bearing on what will happen to this team.
Yes Tuscon you pointed out that Uzan misses a 1/3 of his FT which means he makes 2/3. So how you can take this to mean that he “will miss” the front end of a one-and-one is just you being a pessimist. You could’ve said you had concerns about the FT shooting late in games which many Coogfans certainly share but to say he “will miss”. Ok Eeyore.
Elsa would say “Let it Go”
Also Akeem needs to block out
Doubt old Tuscon and some of these others played much competitive basketball. We joke about our "FT defense, but the intensity at which we play affects the FT shooting of our opponents, which means its bound to have an effect on us.
SDSU has home losses to Colorado State (77) and UNLV (106)
But the other thing hurting them is a one point win at Air Force who is 310 in the net. The Falcons are worse than Jackson State.
They also have 3 home wins over Cal Baptist, San Jose State, and Wyoming by 11 points combined. The 3 teams we hosted with the most similar net rankings are Troy, Aggy Islanders, and Toledo. We beat those 3 by 85.
A radical, albeit forthright, anti-Jungian take.
we seem a bit soft sometimes on offense when driving the ball, need to get better at creating more contact with the defenders
A little too much emphasis on FT’s in my opinion. We are pretty much middle of the pack as far as top 10 teams in FT% at 72.3%. Better than both Florida and Alabama among others. Only 1 elite FT shooting team in top 10 - Duke at 76.9% (32nd best). Next is Tennessee at 74.9% (80th best). Lets say we improved another 2%, which would put us top 3 excluding Duke. We shoot 16.9 FT’s per game, so that means we would score 1 extra point every 3 games.
I think what has been discussed previous - if you want to be a top 10 team, you better be playing some “in your face” defense. Which takes a toll on FT shooting. Therefore most top 10 teams struggle somewhat at the line. Just my thoughts!
Akeem was out guarding Wittenburg. Which worked brilliantly. He shot an air ball. Unfortunately, the brilliance and effectiveness of the strategy…was the exact cause of our demise.
Roberts has been much better from the line lately.
The improvements from Jojo and Francis have been spectacular. Even if the occasional slump may bring down the percentage some of y’all put so much into.
What I want to see is Milos and TA to stop going 1 of 2 on their pairs.
Sharp and LJ are as good as we have had as our top two at the line since maybe Penders was here.
I just dug back and looked at a ton of stat sheets on basketball reference and here’s what I found for players that attempted at least 30 FTs in a season
1958-1959: Bernie Kapner 35/36 (97.2%)
2010-2011: Zamal Nixon 94/102 (92.2%)
2024-2025: Emmanuel Sharp 56/61 (91.8%)
2024-2025: Lj Cryer 49/54 (90.7%)
So prior to this year we’ve had two players carry a 90% FT percentage for an entire season (again 30 attempts or more) and now we’ve got a chance to have two in a season. That’s pretty special.
One of the Penders’ teams I think we had three guards shooting 85% or higher.
I’m sure Kelvin Lewis would have been one of them
For tonight : EMAW
Not at all correct about Akeem “out guarding Wittenberg”. He was literally in the paint the entire sequence.
Forgive me fellow old-timers for posting the taboo moment. I know you already know every nuance of it without re-suffering it! Me too. But it seemed necessary when someone might be mixing up Anders and Akeem.
The 30 for 30 on Phi Slama Jama will have have you wondering about the steal Anders almost had to seal the game. Just fingertips away
Or if we had just made two more FT’s…
