UT’s Texas One Fund is a tax exempt organization that connects athletes with non-profit partners, like the American Cancer Society, the Austin Public Library, Dell Children’s etc.
This approach should be a goldmine in Houston. Think of all the non-profits in Houston: almost all the Medical Center Hospitals, city and county social services, private social service organizations, etc. Donate and then give back to the community. Win, win.
i believe both types of NIL organizations, taxable and tax exempt, can coexist in Houston. LinkingCoogs has done a good job connecting athletes with companies for endorsements. Donors more philanthropic may choose to donate to a charitable cause.
I’ve yet to see/hear/read a single soul explain in detail what UH is doing differently than other schools like UCF. Just a bunch of vague complaints about UH nil not being good enough. I suspect it’s because they don’t actually know and are simply repeating what they heard from Dana. Like you, I’m waiting to hear more from CWF on this because nobody is being transparent about this.
I’m growing tired of the low self esteem portion of our fan base. Nobody expects us to throw around money with ut or aggy, but none of these ppl can explain what we’re doing differently than UCF or Cincy.
Our endowment is much larger than UCF. We’ve been around much longer than them. The city of Houston has more nil possibilities than Orlando. Do they really have THAT much more money than UH?
If we can’t even compete with UCF in nil then why did we fight so hard to get in the Big 12?
It is the “Official NIL Collective for UCF Athletics” you can join the community for as little as $12 a year, for $25-$12,000 a month you get access to the community (I am assuming a forum), various levels of exclusive apparel, events, up to and more exclusive events and signed memorabilia, and again the link to this is on the home page top right of UCF’s website. Sounds a lot like if 46ers and Coogfans had a baby that was able to consistently sign 4 star athletes.
For a group that hates Dana, a lot of Coogfans sure sound like him. Doom and Gloom and no way to compete with the big boys. That kind of pathetic thinking is why we got rid of Dana.
