I remember when Vermiel took the Rams to the SB. That 3-4 defense was beastly.
Brian Stewart made great gains at the end of his tenure at UH with the 3-4. I think he would have been very good had he stayed. Our defense was rounding out and hitting the line super hard. It was causing a lot of fumbles and played hell on the QB.
What about Wade Phillips, 3-4 Defense
Pretty solid. a few seasons in Houston and Dallas

The spring portal window is going to be absolute chaos. Some teams have over signed positions and the fighting is going to be fierce.

I think we’ve really improved the defense. Only positions where we might need help would be nose tackle and outside linebacker.

An improvement of defense is a total program elevation. Our talent level (IMO) slipped with Belk

3-4 really excels if you have a good NT and good edge rushers.

You better have the personnel….you don’t just put in 4-3 guys to play 3-4 ends.
3-4 “edges “ have to be bigger/stronger.
