OK, with all those hoops to jump through, UH won’t be top ten then. Too many years of absolutely sucking between Phi Slamma Jamma and the arrival of Coach. Before Fertitta, UH played in a dump, never filled up the arena for 40 years until last year. So yeah, UH will score horribly in his poll of “a bunch” of the “league” coaches.
Third after kansas and arizona…
It will be interesting to see where everyone falls.
I think the top 5 will have:
Kansas
Houston
Baylor
Texas Tech
and Arizona.
Kordel Jefferson had a procedure on his left knee yesterday. He’s on crutches.
B12 holds its stature thanks to Houston. You’re welcome B12.
Not true… we sold out the game when Derrick Rose came to town… ![]()
Isiah Harwell went through all of practice today.
And that Drexler game vs UT…
I was at that game, been so long ago, couldn’t remember it being full. We all got t-shirts
Drexler was before my time… I came onboard with Penders.
Hopefully see him again next year
I was in line to get in and about 500 of us, at least, got turned away.
I went & watched it at a bar & the bartender couldn’t believe the Hof was sold-out…
I was talking about the Drexler vs. ut game. Still don’t think it was filled, we sucked…bad
The Dark Ages (1986-2014)
[Hofheinz Pavilion, which once housed thousands of excited UH fans in the ‘70s and ‘80s, turned into a rundown shell of itself, rarely surpassing more than a few hundred in attendance. Houston basketball had entered the abyss.]
And they were very dark
I hate to admit it but I grew up a Rice & UT fan… but when I stepped on campus in 2008 I gave away all my burnt orange and Rice Blue…
It was definitely full. We weren’t good that year, but it was the first game of the season and Drexler’s first game, so there was still hope. ![]()
Then we lost at Rice and at home to Sam Houston State.

Ewwww…
2-14 in C-USA play, not a fun time
edit to add: That conference record is actually his 2nd and final season conference record
Drexler’s first game vs UT was absolutely 110% full. It was as loud as I ever heard Hofheinz, and louder than any Fertitta game. Deafening at the end.
Pretty sure we sold out for the Kentucky we won here under Penders. Great crowd.
