Your not used to seeing the Cougars have top level talent? Are you just the wait to see it kinda guy? Considering every athlete improves under Coach Samps system.
Yea you could say I’m kind of in wait and see mode. Just really waiting on the Milos decision like a lot of people obviously.
Wont shocked me if he goes 1st rd after redshirt sophomore year
Hes a starter in 2026-27 season where UH expects a huge exodus of talent after this upcoming season.
Our talent looks to be mind-boggling.
Is the well-embedded mole Kellen?
But seriously, I’m excited to see what Chase can do.
Chase will have to share minutes this year. Look for him to really blossom and take more of the load in 2026-2027.
Chase was chosen to imitate Cooper Flagg before the actual game.
Right. Bball is the only sport where all talented players have a chance to earn a living.
Out of boredom, I kind of want to talk about Parker Ainsworth / LockedOnCoogs projected lineup without Milos. He’s been talking about this lineup for a while, and I just don’t agree with it, especially the PG positions.
(instead of our regular fights about Milos or inter-fighting within the site.) - this is just sports talk…
His Lineup:
-
I know the simple 1 to 1 is LJ for Pop…(which i can see if Milos leaves), but Pop is a bonefide PG. he has legit playmaking skills. he was exclusively a PG prior to college. and handled split pg duties in his prior stops (Even tho he split duties with other pgs)
-
Pop and Flemming starting together at the start of the year . pop is not a great defender, flemmings is 6’3/175lbs and doesnt know the rotations, … both together would be poor defense to start the year… and likley the worst defensive combination of any guard lineup with have (As everyone else is huge)
-
KJ isnt a PG.. could he develop into one? yes … but he has almost no rep of being a purely PG prior… he wasnt the PG in his High school, Wasnt the PG is His AAU. He also played 4 games this season with 8 straight game minutes he didnt play pg (0 asts). the SIUE game he played the last 10 minutes, mylik 60% mercy 30% Arc10% brought the ball down… only the very last play of the game did he bring the ball down/run the offense…
I doubt we’d just give him PG minutes at the level we are at… if anything we’d give him off guard minutes (if he can earn it) and give him spot PG roles and slowly ease him into it… he isnt just going to be the backup pg just like that
him being a PG is like the “mcfarland is a wing that can shoot” where did that come from?? -
ive mentioned before… I think harwell starts… his defense will be too good not to start with our identity (debated as the best 2 way player in the class)… he was full court pressing elite offensive pgs at 6’6… has the size to recover even if he hasnt mastered the rotation… potentially also adds a rebounder at guard…

My biggest issue with Parker depth chart is the back up center. Sakho would really need to be a disappointment jumping from Sam Houston St to Houston for him to be behind Ced Lath in the depth chart once the season starts going.
As far as Harwell starting i hope coach doesn’t mind starting two true freshman. He seems to give veteran’s the edge if its a tie or close coming out of camp.
Khalifa is likely end of depth chart… Sampson spoke on him I believe 2 weeks ago
Paraphrasing but basically this “He knows why he was brought here, not saying it’ll always be like that and can’t change his role . But the one thing about our program is we don’t lie to recruits, they know exactly what they are coming into”
Technically he didn’t say the role… by the tone and context in which he spoke, felt a lot like sadarius bowser … it was mostly unprompted, they just asked samp about Khalifa’s potential impact, and his response was about how we didn’t lie to him
And with Lath, Sampson in a different recent interview compared lath to Harris. Saying That not everyone is meant to be a star but every now and then to have their moments and that’s what they see with Lath… while not the most praise worthy quote. It shows they want to play lath
It’s not etched in stone… the elite 8 year Sampson preseason said the team would be built around sasser, Tramon and Fabian … the end of the year the pillars were actually Shead, Edwards, and Carlton …so things change , but the “vision” I think for next season has sahko barely playing
Similar with Bryce Jackson , who I think is underrated… but when samspon does an interview of the impact of freshmen and only mentions the other 3… the writing is on the walll… Jackson needs a legendary summer to not be redshirted
Who are you bud? Like this is a second or third account for who?
You joined a day ago and are posting all over the place….
Were you banned from the board? Or just wanted another account?
Well there’s the over analysis to paralysis.
I will say that the front court has the potential to be more role oriented outside of Jojo. Really hard to say because I haven’t seen McFarland or know what his health will be, and haven’t seen McCarty and don’t know how we will use Walker. Haven’t really seen Sakho but I think he will be in competition for double figure minutes off the bench
We may well have 4 Big Men who can play. Great depth!
At a minimum we are 6 deep for the other 3 positions.
With 10 quality players Sampson can play killer, relentless Defense with guys that are reasonably fresh.
This is a formula that should return U.H to The National Title game.
Last month, with a mere 1 minute left, we lead The Title Game 63-62.
One minute away from a Natty.
4 would be same depth as last year. Came in handy.
This year we are 6 deep in bigs.
JoJo Tugler
Chris Cenac
Jacob McFarland
Khalifa Sakho
Ced Lath
Who’s the 6th Big?
Hmm. You are right. I musta counted myself
UH was 3 deep in the front court positions last season. IMO the difference in the national title game was the stretch in the 2nd half where Tugler and Francis both had 4 fouls
