And that’s why Pop is an Aggie…
OH . He went up and dunked all over Ced. No fear!!
All I see in front of him is #25. And that’s not Ced’s number. it’s Mercy Miller’s number.
(Unless Ced is wearing the wrong # for practice).
Though He does look thicker than Mercy.
lol. That’s not mercy. Mercy wishes he had shoulders like that.
It must be weird not to have J’wan Roberts at these workouts.
Summer workouts are over
i agree with the best shooting line up
the best 2way… im still putting milos at PG… taking sharp out for Mccarty
6’4, 6’6, 6’6, 6’11 and NDPOY… Where 4 of them can really shoot
You’re probably right. Too much youth, 3- freshman, for that 2-way lineup.
Late shot clock guy - Emanuel
What if Kingston was that elite on ball defender or grew into it during the season?
Uzan, Eman, Kingston, Cenac, Tugler.
Emanuel guarded Clayton Jr pretty well in the Championship game. Running off screens
I don’t expect Kingston to be a elite defender year one. My expectation for his defense will be about what Milos was last year. If I’m honest, I have more faith in Milos becoming a elite defender on a second year jump than I do of Kingston year one.
Sharp is a very, very good defender, don’t get me wrong about that, but I don’t think people account for how elite of backside defenders Francis and Tugler were. There’s a reason why whenever both of them are in foul trouble together, teams drastically start scoring on us more, and it’s not the bigs that start scoring more, it’s the guards.
At both 6-6, McCarty and Harwell have self-sufficient shutdown potential on defensive end. Harwell crazy bouncy while McCarthy not as bouncy has a crazy wingspan. Even for 6’6.
The guy i want the most to drop 15+pts on opening night is Mercy Miller
After what happened with Arceneaux, you wanna see that big jump for Mercy year 2.
Mercy as your starting 3rd guard or 6th man, is ideal to start the season
If McCarty makes the rumored jump, there won’t be any weakness in the starting lineup as the 3.
The last remaining weakness could possibly be front court depth.
McCarty could also be a backup stretch 4 if McFarland & Sakho don’t pan out
While watching our TBT team I kept expecting our opponents to get whacked while approaching the rim. I kept having to remind myself that Francis and Tugler aren’t on this team
just listening to the Rothstein big 12 podcast posted by @Hill
Rothstein randomly dropping bombs in the podcast…
he says he has multiple sources that Kingston is the leader in the clubhouse to start along side milos
With deeper further context, Harwell hasn’t been practicing (the projected starter), so maybe it’s not a clear reflection of how the team will start when everyone is fully healthy, but one, it shows Kingston has squarely pushed himself as the next best guard outside of Milos/Sharp with the exception of potentially Harwell. (Mercy, Mccarthy, Ramon, Kord etc.)
And it’s not even a great sign for Harwell, as Sampson does tend to move on with the roster decision quickly. On the Elite 8 year, early preseason Sampson said “the core of the team would be Tramon, Sasser, and Fabian”. Tramon ended up missing the offseason to injury, Sampson ended up starting shead, and when Tramon came back for the few games before he re-injured himself, shead remained the starter, not Tramon.
Yep - as you noted later, it’s hard to unseat guys who take the opportunity and run with it. The cool thing about it is that Harwell will bring something totally different when he comes into the game.
I still suspect that over the course of the season, Sampson will probably want to have Kingston coming off the bench to make sure that either he or Milos is always on the floor, unless someone else shows off some PG skills.
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile (having both Milos & Kingston on the court together). Two ball handlers, who can both disrupt things by getting in the paint, and let’s also remember that Los shot .428 % from three last season (on nearly 4 attempts per game). So he’s another lethal shooter to go with Sharp and the few games I saw from Flemings he can stroke it as well.
Excited to see this lineup.
Kingston
Los
Sharp
McCarty
Cenac
Couple of weeks ago, external media touted McCarty as (secretly) the most improved player in the offseason.
He even said in a recent interview that he’s finally injury free, “jumping through the roof”, and coach expects him to compete for best big 12 three point shooter.
I figured he would be perfect for the 3 spot.
Looks like the freshman is overtaking the most improved player.
And don’t forget what former Coog great Otis Birdsong said of Mercy Miller, about how improved he was.
Gee I’m. Excited our football team but hoops is in another orbit right now
