Who will be the most impactful next season?
Part of Mercy’s problem last year was due to a loss of confidence in his shot. If I know that, you know Sampson and staff know that. Part of their work with Mercy will be to restore his offensive confidence. They did an outstanding job with Q and have the blueprint. Mercy is in good hands.
solo guitar podcast intro music must stop!
Haha, so sorry! But the free music is all I can afford, and it gives everyone a few seconds to get collected before we start.
But please give it a listen, Coach Beard is AWESOME! Great insights and we really enjoyed doing the interview.
I love hearing about their journeys to where they are and the whole culture talks,
but would love to hear more basketball stuff about next year. ie. their perceptions of like player and next year’s team, for the future interviews you do, who are players they think will break out, how this team will differ from last year’s team, what roles might one have that didn’t have last year, what might be something surprising that us fans might not expect to see, We have so many players that don’t have experience that we haven’t seen. Maybe tell us something about the players that we might not know about their games or what do you see being their key strengths going into next season.
those kind of questions.
Thx, we get a bit of that with each interview. But of course there’s a certain level of wanting to keep things under wraps. Also we’ve finished all the interviews already, so no way for me to try to inject a bit more this go round (sorry!). We’ll be releasing a new one every 2 weeks, capping things off w/ the one w/ Kellen that I know every will really enjoy.

Agree! At this point tell us about health, surprises, shooters, newcomers, defense progression, leadership , effort guys, most improved, etc.
CNN retired the show “Crossfire”, which would have been perfect.
Frank Zappa crossfire is legendary hall of fame interview
Absolutely. Our other starting returners (JoJo, Sharp, maybe Ramon) have been with the program several years. This is only Milos’ 2nd year on Cullen. He will be sick. Arizona and Purdue performances will be the norm. Sorry for the youngins Milos is getting at least 25 mins a game.
Interesting no one is talking aboutt Milos making a 2nd year jump. How much did we read about Cryer before last year.( was that all Pesik) Grimes made the junp before him. Nobody improved like Dejon did. So will Milos follow form
UH fans certainly are talking about Milos, but really he was already making the jump.
He’s a big part of the reason we are being picked pre season top 5.
Absolutely - We just need one of the big’s to step up and be near what Francis was - I think our Guards and Wings are going to be legit… Francis was way under appreciated… He was truly a stud - man amongst boys - I think we see him in the NBA similar to Outlaw’s career when it is all said and done
Pesik has commented on Milos being amazing this year, but I would love a breakdown. @pesik are there any particular areas of his game you think will make the biggest jump?
I think we’re going to see his defense take the biggest leap. His offense will be better but it was pretty good last year.
actually i expect a big jump from milos
Defense - he was a good defender last year… i think (hope) he becomes a Elite one this year. You could actively see the growth in him even within the season. The beginning of the year, he was learning to be physical and fouling unnecessarily, too handsy. Toward the end of the year, he had already got that part down. I think with a full offseason, it won’t be about knowing the system but thriving in it
scoring - him or sharp are going to have an extreme jump in point production (totals) and my betting odds are on milos…
the 2 above i feel are natural progressions with the team make up-- other area of growth that imo are realistic but not guaranteed, that i hope to see more
1- drawing fouls - finish a bit stronger/ get to the line more
2- rebounding - at 6’4 he can do more than 3.1 (dejon was at 5.4)— try and get a triple double
3- game breaking playmaker - Milos is a good playmaker, but a safe one. He doesn’t take too many high risk passes. or do any crazy off-the-dribble playmaking. I think it’s kind of a double-edged sword because that does keep his turnovers low, But against the top defenses we’d play that wouldn’t just give us the easy passes, there was almost no playmaking, just tough ISO scoring.
.I think for us to really take that next level to be like separate ourselves from the field, there are going to be times when we are going to need him to create open looks on great defenses for others… not just take tough floaters himself
But overall, every transfer we get have big second-year jumps. I expect the same from Milos.
This is the biggest question I see for Milos, but there were glimpses of it last year. In addition to having worked through the growing pains of adjusting to playing here, a full offseason of strength work should give him more quickness and explosiveness this year - he’ll be a stronger dude than he was last year.
I’m excited to see what the spacing looks like this year. It could make us look like a completely different offensive team than what we’ve seen in the past. Hopefully some of the new rotation guys can take advantage of that, too.
