CKS has said on multiple occasions that the way he and Beard scrimmage are to just extended sessions focusing on various setups and scenarios like ATOs Sideline/Baseline in-bound plays, EOG plays, zone off/def etc. So it doesn’t seem like it’s a proper game with 40 minutes of back and forth action. I’ll disregard and wait to see what y’all report back from next week’s exo against Miss St.

Great opportunity to play the younger guys.
Any loss sucks. But context matters a ton in these scenarios.
Did they exchange film and scout or did they just role balls out?
Did Houston even Sub to win?
I’ll be honest if I’m a Houston fan I take this loss as a win. Kelvin Sampson has to try and motivate 5 star players and a top 2 team in the country. It’s hard to motivate believing your own hype.
This is the perfect opportunity to get humbled early before it doesn’t count and then having them be killers a whole lot earlier this year.

disagree to an extent… menatility plays heavily into winning… UC beating Michigan, now your team has the meantility that they can beat anyone
if you are down 10 in the dayton game mid 2nd half…a team expecting to struggle might just accpet the loss (theyll try but its not make or break for them)… a team expecting to win will fight tooth and nail to go to that dream theyve envisioned for that season alive
as for houston, just cause of the context of what houston roster is next year its hard to worry… there isnt that much change from last year in team dynamic … and last year we were elite
Milos uzan is so ball dominant that there is little room to introudce errors into the scheme… its hard to wrry about defense and rebounding with sampson…and jojo still on roster
… there is little room where i see something changing so much that we’d be bad…
ie. we lose cryers automatic 3s (mostly catch and shoot). but cryer is 6’1, he’s being replaced by an athletic 6’6 5star known for shooting, even if the shooting isnt as good … the size athleticism difference should make up for it in other areas etc…
now if i had seen this score, and we were expected to start flemmings or pop isaac… id be lying to say i wouldnt be worried … but not with what we have coming back

also just saw the pics, look like everyone played despite it being a close game, which we’d never do in a real game … i mean everyone, incluing jackson played …who is expected to redshirt

Sounds like a great scrimmage assuming we came back with a lot of stuff to correct and get better at. Last year’s team got off to a shockingly poor start and grew into a B12 Champion and National runner up.

Yes a lot of people saw the record last season and saw a poor start.
I saw a team about to go on a very long winning streak after losing a 9 point lead with 5 min to play against possibly the best team in the nation, an over time loss to a other very talented team in Alabama thanks to an egregious call made against us at the end and another tough OT loss still getting our footing to STSTU.
What happened is we went on that long streak, got through a few landmines like UCF and KU on the road and just about never lost again.
So yeah the results of some controlled scrimmage 2 weeks before the season is as inconsequential as it gets, win or lose.
It’s very good to lose, as saban said on game day losses need to happen so you know what to work on better,

I guess we’re doing this song and dance again, huh? Last year we started 4-3 and half this board acted like the sky was falling. Then—small detail—we went on to win 31 of the next 32 games. But sure, let’s panic again, just for the nostalgia.
Some of you are so relentlessly miserable it’s almost impressive. I can’t wait for the meltdown when we only finish 3rd in the Big 12 and limp into the tournament with a pathetic No. 13 AP ranking. Tragic stuff, really.
