Love to hear from the guys. They both sound like great young men. I especially look for a big year from Carlos Allen.
Yeah, I think your first priority, the O-line kind of takes care of them all. I have to think based on what Coach Fritz has said and looking at the experience of the transfers especially that we’ll field a competent offensive line. It may not be the best in the Big 12, but I think it’ll be in the top half. Jason Brooks’ run-block grade was the best of all of Oklahoma State’s linemen in 2023. He sat out 2024 due to an injury. Matt Wykoff started at A&M as a freshman and made the All SEC freshman team. Dalton Merryman started for Tech last year, and Alvin Obosele started three games at LT for Baylor and had high pass blocking grades. McKenzie Agnello was second team All MWC last year. We also have Demetrius Hunter, who was a borderline four-star recruit and started every game last season. So he’s become a veteran going into his redshirt junior season. David Ndukwe started last season and was one of our few competent offensive linemen, grading out at 82 (PFF) on his pass blocking. I don’t see us having a top ten in the country offense, but I think we’ll be among the top four or five in the Big 12. If we’re also among the top four or five defenses then we should at least get to a bowl game and possibly even compete for the conference title.
I guess if Coach Fritz and Coach Sampson share mileage on a private jet, Coach Fritz stating “I have not got on a plane to recruit since I’ve been at Houston”, is music to Coach Sampson’s ears.
All of this. Appreciate the write up.
Have QB with some pedigree and backfield with depth. Like the TE room. Curious about Koby Young. Need a lid lifter.
Here is a novel idea. UH will have a successful season if Weigman starts every game, and in the last game of the season, fans continue to argue over who should be the backup QB without any resolution.
Blake Joseph still have eligibility?
Big target for CW. Our offense is upgrading across the board.
Here’s a quote I read by our top receiver from "24. Houston wide receiver Stephon Johnson on redshirt freshman Koby Young’s ability to stretch the field: “A blur in a bottle.”
Yes he had starting experience in the B12, but he was very unproductive. Here’s his passing stats and rating.
- YDS 824
- TD 4
- INT 8
- QBR 38.8 (111th in FBS)
He is a gifted athlete, but I don’t think QB is his skill set. Yes, he was handicapped by his OL, but a lot of it was on him holding the ball. He will absolutely not be an NFL QB, so in my humble opinion he should play WR, RB, or both and take advantage of his athleticism. But, I am not CWF and my opinion means nothing.
