No chance Sampson starts Miller over Sharp lol…

Seems unlikely, but I would like to see Cedric Lath get a redshirt year.

Ced Lath already redshirted.

Spring 2023 semester.

He arrived a semester early, just like Emanuel did. But not for injury rehab

Ah dang, I could have easily checked that. Props to him for sticking around. I know he’s under no illusions about his current place in the rotation, but could just use some extra seasoning.

McFarland is back. I was a bit worried he would transfer. I think he’s going to be a key piece off the bench behind Jojo and Cenac. Even more so than Sahko.

I’m looking forward to seeing Lath also. He is an immovable object. Francis made significant improvements in his offensive game this last season. Similar strides for Lath this season? I’m looking forward to seeing where Lath is in his development. We know he is putting in the work.

Coogs have a lot of guys with different skill sets. I like how Sampson has players with such varied skill sets. Not every player needs to be a 5 tool player. Excel at a role, follow the game plan.

I think Cryer and Sharp would have benefited with less ball handling and assist generation responsibilities. Big drop off when Uzan was out. Sharp is a shooter and great at creating his own shot. Same with Cryer. Pick and roll, creating for others wasn’t the same as when Uzan was in.

Sharp is going to flourish this season.

Macarthy, Mercy Miller & Jefferson need to re-up soon or theyre gone!!!

Is the transfer portal deadline only for graduates or…

This is the last day for portal entires. Only ones we haven’t gotten the official return announcement from is Jefferson and Miller.

Having heard coach say we had championship practices all season confirms just how big of a deal it is to having so many of these guys returning even if they aren’t in the rotation.

Macarthy with an h too!

He’s apparently still recovering from the injury and may not be ready for the start of the season, per JD.

McFarland has been cleared for all activities and the season is still 6 months away.

Let’s go ahead and start addressing some questions for next season.

  1. What will the roster be. We know 14 so waiting on Uzan.
  2. Who starts at the 3G?
  3. Who starts at PG minus Uzan?
  4. Does Miller get into the rotation with his experience?
  5. Is McCarty able to drop down as a small ball four?
  6. What will this summer show for our four true freshmen?
  7. What is the health status this summer for the team, especially McFarland’s recovery?
  8. The Sakho/Lath position is going to be important so what will their readiness be?
  9. Surving the defensive losses of J’Wan, Javier, LJ and possibly Milos.
  10. Without Uzan who may take the reigns as top 3 scorers?

Is the team going on an overseas trip this summer? In the past, teams have traveled to Australia and Italy. Go Coogs!

no, not this season…

1 foreign trip every 4 yrs

My biggest concern is not having a reliable offensive threat in the paint with one of our bigs like we had with J’Wan. Will Jojo improve? Sure but I don’t see him being as reliable as 'Wan was. From what I’ve seen from Cenac his game is primarily on the perimeter (likes to face the basket). He does however have the ability to take it to the hole because he does have good handles for a big man. No doubt Kellen will work with him on his post moves. He has a really good fade away J that he’s bringing to the table.

A very fair question. I will broaden post points to easy buckets. Need them in the half court in the forms of drives, posts or FTs.

I think this is where of Mercy settles in he really shines as a get to the hoop type of guard. His shooting isn’t bad but his drive is his money maker.

Sakho can fit in that role.

I wonder what the odds are that they grant the 4-year seniors a 5th season. If so, I’d be thrilled with Javier taking that 15th spot
