2025 Waay Too Early Depth Chart

I will continue to adjust this as we get closer to the season and new information becomes avaliable.

Looks solid. Only positions I think you might have wrong are DE with Darius Washington and CB with Rhym over Vedder. If Washington’s going to be the starter then we got a steal in the ‘24 class. Well, I checked. He was a high three star (88) and had an offer from Texas Tech. Still, I’d be surprised if Walls doesn’t start. I’ve heard Vedder is outstanding but we shall see.

I like Walls, & I do think he’ll get a bunch of playing time, but I view him as more of a DPR (Designated Pass Rusher) than an every down DE in what is essentially a 3-3-5/4-2-5 hybrid defense. He’s listed at 6’4, 247lbs. Washington otoh, is 6’6, 265lbs, giving him the length you want at the DE position in order to counter the length of those tall offensive tackles. I think Walls will most likely rotate with Brandon Mack & Latreveon McCutchin at the JACK position while Quindario Lee splits time with Washington at DE.

I 100% agree with you on Vedder. If you ask me, I’d start him over Rhym. I just slotted Rhym in as the starter based on the words of @PAinsworth512. I haven’t seen any tape on Rhym so I’m trusting Parker on this one.

I am not anti-NIL and transfer. It is what it is, I have no control over it. I still love watching my Coogs.

BUT!!! It does ruin things like a Waay Too Early Depth Chart. I can’t find it in me to care about something that I used to love and get super into. It was fun rooting for guys to move up and work their way into playing time through their collegiate careers. Now…it’s just names.

Oh well. Games will be here in 3 months. I will care then.

In the battle of TEs, The Koz is starting. I’m sure Jayden York will get a lot of snaps too. A receiver and a blocker. A Ying and a Yang.

I think Koziol is TE1, but I know that Nagle is gonna run a bunch of 12 personnel so McGary will play a ton of snaps as well.

If you don’t care, then don’t care. You could’ve kept that negativity to yourself.

7 of the top 9 DL are seniors. Should be good for 2025. That’s a lot of work to be done for 2026.

I think thats why CWF brought in 7 D linemen in this recruiting class. Still, they’ll be really young on that line in '26. I can see coach bringing in a few portal guys to bridge the gap

I like how the defense is shaping up, though we have to see how they actually do on the field with the new coaches. Our new DC has a rep for being very aggressive, so i am optimistic.

As I have been often reminded, this is a chat board and various opinions welcomed. As for the OP chart, that’s about as good a guess as any, I guess.

One thing I wonder about, will Austin Carlisle be given a chance to take the reins or is Henderson expected to take over day one? If so, that’s a real bummer for Austin, who has looked really good to me.

I’d replace Washington with Walls.

The Baylor LT was taking first team reps over Merryman. Idk if that will stick but it’s something to note.

I also think Veddar starts but that’s just a guess IMHO

I addressed my thoughts in further detail on Walls up above. Simply put, I just think he’s more of a JACK than a DE. I could be wrong, but that’s what comes to mind when watching his tape.

Both @monceaux and @JosephDuarte have Ebosele behind Merryman. I know Ryan has been at the practices so I trust his judgment on the oline pecking order.

Vedder is probably my favorite CB since Isaiah Hamilton. I think he’s a gem. However, I think JD Rhym has the talent to win the starting role. Let’s not forget that out of HS he had offers from LSU, Alabama, Florida, FSU, Miami, Georgia, etc. All the big dogs wanted him. I don’t have insider information so I just stuck with the information that’s available, which is Rhym being CB2.

Henderson is expected to redshirt just like Austin is this year.

You sure… Henderson is an Elite 11 great performance from being ranked #1 in his class. I think him and Carlisle will battle for the starting position if Weigman balls out and turns pro!!!

Weigman can be the Milos Uzan of football. (performance wise)

That’s a strange take and highly doubtful. I think the era of redshirting, other than for offensive linemen or players with an injury, is becoming a thing of the past.

And that applies to both football & men’s basketball.

@Joprior23 said this as well

Where does the hype for Vedder come from? I see he has great size for the position. Is it based on anything other than that?

I’ve watched a decent amount of film on him. The kid’s got game. His size is just an added bonus imo.
