Agreed. Retzlaff was likely innocent because of those circumstances. Kingston is likely guilty if they arrested him with no bail. Is crazy it’s a year old though.
Assuming he’s guilty lock him up and throw away the key.
He just got engaged like a week ago. That poor woman.

If convicted, he’s facing 5 to Life and will have to register as a sex offender IF he gets out.
@uhlaw97 since they spent a year investigating him before the arrest and holding him without bond, does that mean the DA has a pretty strong case?
From what I’ve heard he will receive his bond when he appears before a judge on Friday…
But based on the whispers I’ve seen it seems they have strong case.
I feel bad for the young woman as well as Kingston’s fiance assuming she didn’t know about this and was as blindsided as everyone else. Especially after that public proposal

I doubt they would have even filed this if they didn’t think it was pretty tight.

We’ve got a guy indicted for Capital Murder that took very little investigating because the whole thing happened on camera, the guy was arrested almost immediately (again, on camera), and later confessed after being Mirandized in prison. Didn’t take long to take that one to the Grand Jury.
Adult Sexual assaults can vary as to length of investigation. In many cases, it takes time to get DNA lab test analysis back from forensic medical exams (assuming there was an immediate outcry, a rape kit was done, and the complainant hadn’t showered, douched, etc, or waited too long to report), to get everyone’s side of the story (unless the Defendant takes the 5th), etc, look into the complainant’s background for credibility, obtain and review any surveillance video that may be nearby, etc. In other cases, someone might walk in on the episode, and see the girl is yelling “no stop” and clawing/scratching/kicking at the guy, all the while he is on top of her penetrating her.
Every case is different.
Length of investigation prior to Grand Jury presentation and indictment does not necessarily say anything about the strength or weakness of a case.

JMO, but
It’s ok to keep those two things separate. You can still hate Parker Kingston for putting himself in that situation less than a year after the Retzlaff ordeal. He had every reason to keep his nose clean of even an ultimately incorrect appearance of engaging in that sort of crime, let alone actually do it. Especially while at BYU.
But also we can reserve any ultimate judgement on him beyond that until the whole thing plays out…or at least until we have enough credible details on those compelling whispers and judge them to be legitimate before the legal thing fully plays out.
It is crazy to have another high-level accusation of this type back-to-back at BYU tho. Gotta be a real PR kerfuffle, regardless of the circumstances.
