2026 Big 12 conference

Brief synopsis so far:

Texas Tech - targeting Sorsby at QB in the portal

BYU- bringing back Bear Bachmeier

Arizona State - losing Sam Leavitt to transfer portal

Utah- loses their head coach Kyle Wittingham

Iowa State- loses head coach Matt Campbell

Kansas State- loses head coach Chris Klieman

TCU- loses its starting QB Josh Hoover to transfer portal

Cincinnati- loses its starting QB Brendan Sorbsy to the portal

Out of the 16 team Big12, only like 5 teams are returning head coach & starting QB next season
(BYU, Houston, Arizona, Colorado, West Virginia)

Colorado- if you wanna say Juju Lewis was their late season starter

The league is kinda a mess right now. But Houston this off-season seems to be one of the stable programs

So Tech doesn’t have faith in that stud frosh QB from last season…?

Their stud freshman, tore his ACL this yr. Will Hammond was the expected starter next yr. But got hurt mid yr

He’s really good.

I did not realize how bad the knee was….guess he takes a redshirt……lots of talent.

Sorsby will be a good bridge….hope he sticks around.

Seems that TT and BYU will be the title favorites.

UH a dark horse, perhaps?

ASU keeps Dilly

If I had to do a “power rating” I’d go

Tech
BYU
ISU
Houston
ASU

Kansas and Utah are a wild card for me. I am not sure anyone outside of those 7 have the funds to compete.

That is good for the B12.

@BYUcougarfan Iowa State potentially losing Rocco Becht. Are they still a top of the Big12 contender?

The only reason I listed them “above” Houston is because we have an on the record commitment from them to pay the rev share where I don’t think I’ve seen an outright commitment from Houston.

Tech needs to replace a lot of guys. They have 13 senior starters and some really good players. We’ll see how they do in the portal this year. We will be going after a lot of guys in the portal, too.

You mean the max rev share?

With today’s news…

BYU home games in 2026:
Notre Dame (the true holy war?)

Utah Tech (regional FCS)

Arizona (regional team, small rivalry)

Arizona state (regional rivalry)

Baylor (great relationship between Baylor and BYU)

Iowa state @RezClone @zrf (one of my favorite teams in the big 12)

Cincy

Away games:

Utah (holy war)
Kansas (revenge game)
UCF (good travel location)
TCU (mountain west rival)
Colorado state (mountain west rival)

Pretty good home slate. This might be the schedule I am most excited for ever.

@BYUcougarfan dont know all the logistics. But for Notre Dame to schedule a Home & Home with yall.

Shows how good your brand is right now. Kudos

Also, going forward in the Big12. What schools do i want to lead the conference:

1.BYU
2.Texas Tech
3.Utah
4.Houston (need our attendance )
5.Oklahoma State

Arizona State & West Virginia that 2nd tier.

Iowa St, K State, TCU, Baylor. Good programs that i think have peaked. TCU, should be better. But Dykes is kinda a mid coach. Baylor, with the scandals has hurt its national brand.

Iowa State & Kansas St, kinda view them as Iowa. Solid programs that i dont think can reach a CFP. Due to resources, recruiting base

I agree with everything you said.

Except I hope Utah stays in the basement for personal reasons.
