Elliot Cadeau fires back at UNC haters immediately after Michigan won it all

The FT disparity is proportionate to the 3 pt shooting. UConna shot a pelethora of 3 point shots while Michigan scored in the paint. Nobody gets to the line shooting 3 pointers.

Like Lloyd, I thought Hurley failed MISERABLY in attacking Mara as a 1 v 1 player. Both Krivas and Reed are two of the best pure post players in CBB, with legit post ups and moves. Both were mostly wasted in setting high screens for perimeter players. When Reed/Krivas got the ball in the post, when posting straight up? They almost always got good shots. Too many times Reed got the ball outside of the post or on the baseline.

Both coaches needed to adjust their normal schemes. Attack Mara, get him in foul trouble, and eliminate a huge off-ball presence on both ends. Quite frankly, these were two of the biggest coaching blunders Ive seen in quite somr time.

It will be interesting to see if Lloyd is smart enough to run the offense through Krivas next year. Hes a 20 and 10 player IF Tommy uses him correctly.

My theory of UH getting players who shoot 40%+ from 3-pt range went kablooey last night. UConn shot 27.3% from 3. And they were the highest. Michigan shot an embarrassing 13.3%; and still won.

I think the magnitude of national championship games and the competiveness of teams make shooting 3s more unpredictable. In UH’s deep runs in the NCAA Tournaments under Sampson, UH has lived and died on its 3 pt. shooting. The results speak for themsleves.

Perhaps Sampson will coach less emphasis on 3 pointers and a stronger inside game.

Well, if UConn shot 40% from 3 last night they would have won.

Michigan held a 13 point advantage at the FT line.

Their entire winning margin. UConn outscored them from the field.

Arizona also won this way. When you pound it inside, and shoot, you get fouled. You get free throws.

When you shoot 3’s you do not get fouled.

Also points in the paint played a huge role:

UConn hit 7 more 3’s than did Michigan.

That is 21 more points from shooting 3’s, which offsets the Michigan advantage with points in the paint.

FT shooting determined the outcome.

Michigan was up 10 with five minutes to go. UConn was fouling a lot towards the end of the game (Michigan shot ten FT the last five minutes of the game).

Football stadiums are not usually a great place
to shoot 3’s. It favors teams built for play in the paint.

Unfortunately, we stunk it up from 3 in a basketball arena…

I didn’t say the guy couldn’t coach.
