Crazy thing is he’s 7’1 290. He’s a 2 way player with a jump shot. He’s very underrated in the rankings. By far the best center in this class according to Adam Finklenstein.

Arfan Diane Summer Highlights: Arafan Diane - Iowa United - 2025 Adidas 3SSB Championship Highlights - Reminds me a lot of Dwight Howard and Joel Embiid. Great post game, passing ability (big to big and skip passes to corner 3s), and has an outside jump shot.

None of those traits fit Howard. He had no jump shot, no real foot work for a great inside game and don’t recall him being a great passer. Howard was an exceptional athlete who could dunk the ball with the best of them and at one point was a tremendous straight up defender.

Crazy thing is Diane doesn’t turn 18 until late November. Even if he only grows 1/4 of an inch he’s already around 7 ft barefoot :astonished::astonished::astonished:

It’ll be cool to have Cenac this year and Diane next year. Both real talented. Cenac more skilled of a unicorn but Diane may be the more dominant in college.

Dwight Howard? LOL.

As long as he gets Dwight Howard’s ability and not his disability

landing those three would be amazing

Our new Hoops Recruiting+ editor, James Mueller, interviewed top-ranked center Arafan Diane and the president of Iowa United before Arafan arrives at UH today.

Diane is a top priority for the staff:

I’m starting to get a good feeling about Diane & Howard coming to UH in 2026.

I’m trying to find dirt on Caleb Holt. He’s been pretty quiet on the recruitment side.

Young Olajuwon may still end up at UH if CKS and staff want him here.

Great article and information. Credit to Coach Sampson and the staff for their recruitment of Diane. Diane will be in the NBA in a few years. I hope he has a chance to talk to Hakeem Olajuwon.

87" wingspan!!!

Crazy that Jojo and Francis’s wingspan is longer… same wingspan as J’Wan but he has that body to go along with the wingspan.

That would place him third on last year’s team behind Tugler and Francis and only one inch longer than Roberts

Yeah but he’s 7’1" and 285, too… J’Wan is considered to be a big body at 235…

Jojo nor Francis has his skill level tho on offense. Not close tbh. Fan of all three. It just depends how you build your team to be a juggernaut!

My feeling is that UH’s success in recruiting is adding years to Coach Sampson’s coaching. A coach’s coach, he truly seems energized with the incoming talent every year and making the players the best they can be.

If Coach Sampson’s health stays good (knock on wood), he may have another 5 years of coaching.

I’m not sure people appreciate what a difference that kind of size makes. That kid has 25 pounds on our biggest current player (Lath), and if he comes here, he’ll probably put on a little more weight, but he’ll definitely chisel what he has into more power. He weighs the same as Zion Williamson did in college, and he’s 6 inches taller. That’s Zach Edey size but with more skill and mobility.

You put that dude in the middle of a team full of great passers, shooters and slashers…watch out.
