Kid is a beast!
I think UH top competition early on is Washington. Heâs freaking nice. Has Rob Gray alpha scoring ability.
247 isnât even showing him with an offer from us. Thatâs gotta be wrong
Seems quiet on the recruiting front
Pretty telling where coach thinking is right now.
What does that mean?
Can we just send an assistant coach to pitch a tent outside St Johns Bosco?
Stokes may flip to 2025
Ariza is transferring to St Johns Bosco
Forealz. Damn⊠They may be d #1 high school team regardless if theyre prep or not. Crazy that a public school can have the top 3 players in the country
You usually expect that from Montverde or IMG.
It seems likely to be the result of their NIL program. In seems that weâre now starting to see the evolution of HS professional $port$ program$.
Both St. John Bosco and their arch rival, Mater Dei High School, have NIL programs, which is allowed by Calfornia law. The State of Texas does not allow NIL in high school, however there are a couple of bills in the Texas Legislature that would allow it. The University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Coaches Association oppose them, which is formidable opposition to overcome.
My Uncle informs me that
âJust for the record, I played on the basketball team at St. John Bosco, and even scored some crucial baskets that helped us upset Mater Dei in their building. And they didnât pay me a penny (when pennies still existed).â
They are not public⊠both are private but not the sports only version of private that IMG is.
I am hoping Cenac moves Coachâs needle and his performance makes Coach more willing to recruit true big man with skills. Those players are expensive and a lot have gotten away with being better than their competitors without working hard. The pool is smaller than it seems but the reward is NCAA Tournament appearances and great coaching to prepare for the NBA.
Note: We all know that ârecruitingâ vs â$igning & retainingâ are two different processes.
Throwing out the first pitch last night and in Iowa this morning.
Coach doinâ work!
