Did you expect them to win two out three in Lubbock? I sure didn’t. I’ll take that.

Heading the right direction, finally. That’s the kind of weekend that will get a coach extended, right?

I want the team to win regardless and for Whitting to go out on a good note. But to act like a sweep was expected, when this board has been bad mouthing the team all season, is ridiculous.

As bad as we are, tx tech is worse.
We came into the series ranked 24 spots ahead of them in the RPI’s. Now it’s 39.
I would have bet on a UH sweep before a series loss.

No you wouldn’t. lol If they got swept, this board wouldn’t have been surprised and would continue to rag on whitting.

The only way Whitting gets an extension is if we make the College World Series. If he wants to stay another year he needs to make a super regional.

I found out my coworker a younger cat around 22/23 is friend’s with Whitting’s son. He says they’re a really nice family and he follows UH baseball.

No! I wouldn’t have been surprised if we had been swept.
Especially with our SWAC level pitching. Without Frank Anderson, this is what Todd does.

You don’t know what you’re talking about here
.sorry you don’t know college baseball.

Maybe start with a glance at RPI before you go off on a rant.

And when has the team been getting “bad mouthed all season”?

TW has been getting “bad mouthed” as he should
.but everyone here knows these players are playing to their capabilities.

Saying that several are not Big 12 level players is a fact

saying the pitching has been poor
.is a fact.
But again, they are doing the best they can and nobody that knows baseball thinks otherwise
.so wrong again.

I want Nunez to have that pink slip ready the moment we officially can’t make the conference tournament.

I don’t give a damn about RPI. When is the last time that we have beaten Tech in baseball? 2010? They have had UH’s number. No one on here was expecting a sweep this weekend. I dont give a damn about your response to this either. Dont care and dont have the energy for it.

Right. So, to downplay 2-3 this weekend by saying less than a sweep is on Whitting is ridiculous. Go ahead rant on from here.

Given that we hadn’t won a series in Lubbock in over FORTY YEARS, it’s pretty damned silly for people here to be bitchin’ about Whiting not getting a sweep.

Not a Whiting fan myself, but I can’t criticize him harshly for this series win/not getting a sweep.

Let’s beat Sam, win this BYU series, and at least ensure ourselves a place in the conference tourney.

You and UHcoog have seriously poor comprehension skills
.

He was going off about how the team had “been bad mouthed all season” which is an absolute lie.

Now you’re saying people were “ bitching about not getting a sweep”
.who did that?

I saw a couple of posts that Tech was an opportunity to get a sweep
.which was founded because this is the worst Tech team I have personally seen in YEARS

next level bad.

But of course neither of you looked at ANY numbers to see how truly bad they are
.in fact I just read stupid crap “I don’t care what the RPI is”.:joy:

You guys are pure comedy and you don’t even realize it.

Have a great day Law.

They may be bad.

So?

Last I checked, we ain’t great ourselves.

And guess what?

Even in our good seasons, Lubbock isn’t generally a place we have won during my lifetime. Hell, we hadn’t won a series in Lubbock since 1980 until this past weekend.

People should celebrate that, and stop acting as if we should be disappointed about a non-sweep, when we haven’t even had so much as a series win in Lubbock since I was in early elementary school.

No, we aren’t great ourselves, but this year they are worse.
In our good seasons? Okay, that accounts for 1982 and 1990. Other than that, we haven’t played a series there in our good seasons. In fact from 1997 to 2023, in between our SWC years and the Big 12, we played all of one series there.
No one is saying we should have swept them. We’re saying we could have swept them. PBR’s words were “If there was ever a team ripe to be swept, it was Tech.” I said and still say “I would have bet on a UH sweep before a series loss.”
You’re acting like this was some kind of epic victory. This wasn’t Rayner Noble’s 2000 team going to lsu and usc and sweeping two teams that would go on to the CWS. This was a mediocre team winning a series against a bad team.
Believe it or not, at this point of the season when one team is more than 20 spots ahead of the other, the team with the better RPI usually wins.

None of us are acting as if this is an “epic” victory.

But we are celebrating it a) as a series victory, b) a conference series victory, c) a conference series ROAD victory, and most importantly d) a conference series road victory in a place where we literally haven’t won in more than a generation.

That may not be “epic,” but we gotta celebrate when we can.

That’s just how it is these days.

And with our team
even if we are not quite as bad as Tech, a sweep isn’t anything we can count on, especially in conference and on the road in Lubbock, so we’ll celebrate series victories as is appropriate, sweep or not.
