Cryer and Tugler were pretty big parts of last year’s team, no?
So do we still need to fundraise money to get CKS a private jet to recruit ?
Is the AAU/high school basketball talent getting better in Houston?
i donated $10 the other day, i think we are good
I can offer my Southwest companion pass to CKS lol
Grimes, Cryer, Jojo, etc are all from the area and we got a top 5 ranking out of these guys.
Add in Shead, Sasser, Arceneaux inside Texas.
Haven’t seen anyone in this thread say we don’t or should recruit local players.
To quote ZZ Top, we’re bad, we’re nationwide.
It’s actually been down the last few years and the scene is a mess. Too many teams in Houston.
Rcssports doesn’t even rank local players anymore @RcsSports1
Yes, eventually things get watered down.
Same thing has happened in baseball….too many “dads” calling themselves coaches.
All these fancy high school football stadiums in Texas and we can’t even invest 20% into youth basketball.

Have to admit I never thought we could be this good without Houston-area kids.
Maybe you meant something else, but this reads like we’re succeeding without Houston-area players.

Has the top talent actually gone down, though?
I get the idea that the average talent across all players could be down if there are more mediocre players now participating.
But would the top players (say top 20) now be less talented than the top 20 ten years ago?
Maybe even that is true.

Truly Amazing.

Has the top talent actually gone down, though?
Definitely, the top level talent is down
Also the coaching and training in Houston compared to Dallas is a mess.
Explain.
Ok. I can believe that because I don’t know.
But, genuine question…WHY is it down?
I would think that having more particpants that are not even in the top tier does NOT lower the talent in the top tier. And i perceived that was your original explanation.
So what is the actual reason for a decline then?
- just a normal ebb and flow?
- interest in the sport declining?
- declining coaching and training.
- other?
Again, not debating whether there is a drop. Just that the initial reason you expressed doesn’t in-and-of-itself seem to be THE reason.
