but kingston made sense at pg for what the vision for last years team was…
uzan was slow and deliberate (defensive emphaisze)… kingston was fast and pushed the pace (offensive push)…the offense was a bigger role into last year since the defense and offensive rebounding wasnt as traditionally strong
if we were just shutting teams down defensively, imo uzan remains pg
dedan/alston situation is different because dedan as a play maker is far and away better than KF/Uzan/Alston… Alston and KF actually have very similar games (alston was a rated a bit higher cause he has bit more shake and back in his handles, besides that similar strengths and weaknesses) …anyone not dedan will likely be shifted to the 2 for alston if he came

I don’t know how you can compare a player who just finished his summer before senior year against a player that has played three years in D-1 ball….doesn’t seem like a fair comparison.
As far as him being more of a playmaker than Kingston I 100% disagree….i think college coaches and NBA scouts would disagree as well.
But I will say, let’s see how Dedan does this year….he will have every opportunity to prove it.
it would be open competition, i just stated how i think it would play out… also alston will have commited wherever way before dedan decides what he is doing next year …we likely arent assigning anything to anyne when he commits

ie. kingston was not a shut down defender, everytime we talk about his defense a few people like to pretend like he was and use scouts … why? we all watched the games and know he wasnt a shutdown defender by our standards, why do we act like he was
context matters: scouts are looking at the full spectrum… there are guys who cant defend at all, basically cones like trae young … the worst defender in our system will still be a top30% defender

similar to play making: there are pg who dont play make at all, josh hubbard and Terrence Brown who did 22pts and 20pts a game to only 3ast per, both with top 5 usage amongs pgs (meaning: the ball was always in their hands, they were not looking to pass)
compared to those guys kingston is a great playmaker … thats what the scouts are comparing too

Haven’t seen one poster indicate KF was a shutdown defender. He was more effective than you like to give him credit for and certainly was not a liability. I am not sure why it matters as he has started what may be a long and lucrative NBA career.
When you start with explaining context to other posters I struggle to read any more of it. That line lacks substance and offer does nothing for the conversation.

There have been multiple post about him being a shutdown defender… a few posts quoting people saying he is a elite defender
i never said he was a liability (nor was that the point of most people) … most of the convo that have lead to his defense have been about how we need to improve the defense and how the perimeter defense wasnt great… and then someone would come in to say kingston had great defense… similar about playing making now… (not a judge on is future/NBA)
did you read the post? (i even bolded the intro) the entire 2nd half of the post was about play making…
i didnt say you mentioned defense, but that i noticed a similar pattern when speaking about his defense, that is similar to how you approached playmaking
A couple of points
-Mentioning last years team being inconsistent due to Freshmen and yet Milos was our most inconsistent player.
-And acting like Milos sacrificed for the team by going to a new position. There were many times early in the season where he was offensive PG, and was so bad at it (and Kingston so good at it) that Sampson had no choice. If Milos had played decent or better PG when he had the opportunities, Kingston would have played off the ball more.
-Not trying to jump all over Milos, but he was not very good most of the year including the Illinois game. He forced Sampson’s hand!
