I just want to say the words “soft” and “weak” are over used a lot in this thread imo. Cenac wasn’t soft, nor was he weak. He just didn’t play like some of you wanted him to. I will also say, he does have a post game. He’s not a bruiser, but it’s there and will continue to develop. Simply put, you can’t compare a freshman to a senior. And for the person saying nobody missed Cryer because we had KF, that’s completely wrong imo. With all due respect to KF, last year’s team goes further with LJ Cryer.
Coach Lewis made Cougar basketball from scratch and made five final fours without a title.
He is Mr Basketball at UH and Sampson.is now shoulder to shoulder with him.
Not winning a title will never define these two great coaches.
I am proud we had both of these HOF coaches.
So far very disappointed we have no titles and our chances going forth may be slim in my lifetime, but I still wouldn’t switch places with any other team.
OMG…NO he does not. If you think so I would not want you within 10 miles of evaluating talent. That is a crazy statement. I have even heard Sampson comment that was not who he was. I think I remember ONE TIME last year where he actually caught the ball down low with his back to the basket. uncle that was just a bad take…PERIOD. You are better than that
Brother (I’m assuming haha), I’m not saying he’s a back to the basket player. I’m saying he can play in the post a little bit. They actually threw him the ball in the post quite a bit in Summer League. He’ll never be Shaq or Dream, but he can develop more post moves. He’s primarily a face up guy, perimeter guy, but he’ll keep getting better
We’re Good. I think he will have a better time of it in the NBA because his skill set fits the pro game much better than in college. I wish he had him with a true 5 at UH. It would have allowed him to do what he did best but we only caught a fraction of what he can be. People expected him to be something he wasn’t. I don’t blame him. I just wish he could have hit more jumpers in his last game LOL
We were all thinking g the same thing. He hit those jumpers ALL Season. I was sick for him because they just let him shoot them. He got in his head too much. He makes 2 out of his first 4 and the game changes completely

Being a “stretch 4 “ does not mean you are just a “jump shooter”….Matt Bullard was just a jump shooter….there are tons like him….but guys like Jabari do WAY more than just shoot the ball.
And I said nothing about Cenac……But Jabari is NOT just a jump shooter with nothing else to his game….anyone that thinks so “I don’t want you anywhere near when evaluating talent”.
AND youth impacted this team.
Just inconsistencies a team will have with freshmen and the group wasn’t quite as gritty as our other teams with more leadership.
I guess the reason I’m asking about Alozie’s position is that if he is indeed going to be PG2 this upcoming year and him and Dedan come back next year and we sign Alston that would be 3 outstanding PGs on the roster. In Kelvin we trust with all roster decisions.

it wasnt too long ago we had galen, corey davis and rob gray lineups, the next year swapped rob for dejon…all of which are exclusively pgs in the pros
alston is a scoring pg and 6’3, it would not be hard to shift him to the 2 if dedan came back
but what about this past season? Im just asking…but couldnt KF have filled in the Cryer role and just slide in at the 2? Maybe we would have gotten more out of the decent PG we already had. Or at least do it part time.
Seems like with the 1 and dones we also have to consider what they want and how it projects to the NBA. KF probably had to play PG and we had to make it work. Uzan took one for the team. May have lost some money.
