Since 2021, UH has had five guards drafted in the NBA Draft. That is not counting the UFA who have signed pro contracts. That is a good program track record if your ultimate goal is playing in the NBA. I think Sampsonā€™s coaching style and emphasis on defense increases a UH playerā€™s value among some NBA coaches.

thatā€™s an excellent program record if you consider what the draft prospects were for four of those when they came to Houston. you shouldnā€™t get credit as a program for putting players in the nba when they come into the program as sure-fire pros. calipari has gotten huge props for how many players he puts in the league, but most of them were five stars to begin with.
