That was the concern I was expressing. Most of the 2027 players are committed already and the best we could hope for would be to flip a few players. So for the recruit ranking we most likely will be above 50th. Not ideal at all and raises questions about why. I know nil is key yet being in the 60’s would indicate we are only slightly better than a G6 program. This does not indicate great recruiting so what gives? I want to be an optimist yet there isn’t a lot of indication other than hope and faith that the recruit class will get substantially better. That is not a great strategy.
The portal is going to be our play for 2027 in my opinion.
I will throw this out there for speculation. If you are already holding a very good poker hand you don’t need to draw many cards. Hopefully that is a possibility.

Alabama is 51st with 13 recruits, 1 5 star and 2 4 star… The ranking emphasis numbers over quality, and when you excel at transfer portal and talent retention high school doesn’t need to be huge class. Currently there are only 5 classes in the top 25 with less then 20 recruits and they all have multiple 5 star.
Really would you prefer Fresno State’s 22 recruits with an average 247 ranking of 84.41 or our 14 guys with 2 guys in the top 7 highest rated recruits in the ranking era?
When have we cared about ranking, all that matters is Fritz gets HIS guys.
And we have to remember that UH has among the lowest athletic department revenues of any P4 program…so we’re not going to be outspending any of the Top 30 or even Top 40 programs.
DB from ICHS was getting 150k from UH and was set to sign. Morning of signing day, kid gets offered 450k from wisconsin (i think). Kid didnt want to go but dad convinced him he may never see that kind of money again.

Do we need 20-27 high school recruits? Probably not. The way we’ve scouted and recruited the portal, we have a two-pronged approach. This takes into account that we want to do more recruit, develop, retain, especially if we identify more RSFR and SOPHs with 3-4 years of eligibility in the portal.
Using 247 Composite Rankings - my personal take is that I’ll take our evaluation over 247, On3, etc… - I look at Colorado and I’ve seen what their evaluations have yielded.
Agree! With our ability to bring in strong portal classes, our HS classes will be between 15-20. and our top 15 guys are going to be pretty darn good. The CWF way!
