22-23 Schedule Speculation, Confirmation, etc

I read it as “might” or “could” or “maybe”, not “will” . . . . . JMHO

Just sarcasm. Take it easy, fellas.

A few, but not many; that was frowned upon.

Kent State the last few years.

Anybody have a breakdown of the games we know of already?

Last years schedule comparison:

2021-22 ______ 2022-23

*Alcorn St -------> NorthFolk St

*Bryant ------> North Florida

*Northwestern St —> NC A&T

*Hofstra ----> Kent St

*Virginia —> Virginia

*Oregon---->Oregon

*Alabama—>Alabama

*Ok St —> ??

*Butler ----> ??

*Wisconsin —> ??

*Rice —> ??

*Texas St —> ??

*Louisiana —> ??

Some past special friends and golf companions of ours went to school there. They spoke often, when we were watching LSU play football from Missouri City, recounted how he had to walk her around campus for a couple of hours following each home game to sober her up before she could go home to mom and dad. Also, when I played in the Rice band, once everyone was in their seats, it smelled like a brewery.

Invitational should be announced soon

@strakerak Which Invitational? Any idea on the teams included

A&T and Norfolk but no TSU

Probably a good move not playing Texas Southern or Prarie View A&M

Typically those games at home are 30pt blowouts or worse. So, dont wanna beat up on little brother

every team in a top 7 conference has been announced but mizzou

the most competitive option is joining the Kentucky Mte, which has 1 spot open…but i think that is extremely unlikely as it would essentially be a 1 and done @kentucky… im not sure sampson would be up for that…and Kentucky schedule is also already monstrous, i doubt they add us to an already loaded noncon… but i wouldnt put it at zero%. our game with unf might be part of it (unf is in the Kentucky mte), we might do the 1 and done for sos reasons with this years implications , and kentucky might okay it as it would be a 1 and done home game vs a top 5 team …but i put this as extremely unlikley

next best option is best of the rest mte… us, and an assortment of: mizzou, north texas, uab vermont, ulala, texas state make an MTE at a neutral … would result in a lot of q2 games, which isnt the worst thing, but a really weak mte comparative to others nationally … not a bad option if then paired with a major neutral game… with what is available options

what i think is the most likely option: if we do infact do a MTE, is we make a “Houston MTE”, where we played a bunch of low teams at home (essentially more buy games, but calling it an MTE allows you to schedule more games)… expect an assortment of teams we regualrly player (ulala, texas state on the high end…tsu, praire view on the low end)… mizzou isnt doing a houston MTE… but uab, unt and vermont could maybe be teams that might consider it, to play a top 5 houston

any option not the Kentucky option probably needs to be paired with a great neutral …

If UAB and Mizzou, were added to our slate. Not bad. Question would be home or neutral.

UAB i see as a NCAA tourney team.

And Mizzou brought in some good transfers. New coach.

UNT should also be really good, unt season wide was better than uab, they just got upset in the c-usa conference tourney …they were extremely young last year too and return most of their rotation…
they are a “boring” all defense, no offense team, so they dont get the media acclaim or star power but they are probably a top 60 team too

True. I just checked North Texas NET. Finished 55th.

UAB was 49th. They would be a flashier opponent with Jelly Walker back

check your history - UH won by 3 last time over TSU - doubt it would be a blowout - a tough game though - both teams have beaten us before

Which Houston team was TSU playing?

The Tom Penders UH or James Dickey UH?

Texas Southern beat Florida on the road last year, but against this Kelvin Sampson UH team, good chance its a blowout

Edit: we played Prarie View A&M in 2018 season. 92-72 win. We played PVA&M in 2017 season, 105-61 win. PVA&M in 2016 season. 110-69 win.

In 2013 season, under James Dickey lost to Prarie View A&M. And beat Texas Southern by 3pts. 78-75.

Typically, when we schedule a team from the SWAC, as a home game under Sampson, its a blowout
