247Sports: Iowa State #1 on Big 12 power rankings

Should also add that several other outlets have ISU at #1

Just sayin

No excuse for last week’s performance. You tried this with Dana.

I tried to warn this board that this season was going to be the toughest schedule UH has ever had since the SWC.

UNLV is no joke. Oklahoma will improve currently at 4-1. Iowa State could win the conference.

This doesn’t excuse the scoreless offense and bad QB situation, but if anyone thought we would be 5-0 at this point, I would settle down a bit.

Matt Campbell’s first season at ISU they went 3-9 and started 1-8 including a loss to FCS level Northern Iowa. They won 8 games the following season starting a streak of 5 straight bowl eligible seasons, including a Fiesta Bowl win in 2020. Hope we’re able to find some wins this year and make a similar jump in year two with Fritz. It can be done.

OU is probably going to finish 5-7 or 6-6. As someone who’s watched them barely escape two of the worst teams in the P4, I can say with some confidence that they’re not very good, and 5 of their last 7 games are Texas, Ole Miss, Mizzou, Bama, and LSU. They’ve got a rough back half of the season coming their way.

You’re probably right but I just want to interject and say the Mizzou is colossally overrated

I wasn’t impressed with Iowa State.

I agree…if ISU is our best team, we are not a good conference.

We are horrible, and gave them all they can handle

We win if we had a QB on the roster who wasn’t afraid to throw the football

Is Cincinnati the best team I our conference? They have been the best against us so far.
Maybe UCF or BYU?

They weren’t impressed with us either lol

Other than Rice, no one will be impressed with us !!

I tried to tell people they weren’t world beaters. They struggled with our natural talent at times. They are literally the Nebraska of the Big 12…hard to recruit to.

Thems fightin’ words, sir!

In all honesty, it’s considerably harder to recruit to ISU than nebraska in a vaccuum. Makes the wins that much sweeter!

I know its cliché, but the great equalizer is our people. Administration, Staff, Fans. Everyone pulls in the same direction at all times.

I admit, it’s easier for us to move in one direction than most because we have no other choice. We have no illusions about who we are and what we’re up against, so there’s really no pressure to get petty or overly critical. In that way, we are nothing like nebraska.

This is literally why CMC came here in the first place and hasn’t left for greener pastures. We tossed him the keys to his forever ice cold drivers seat and GTFO of his way.

TJ Otzelberger took a pay cut to come back to Ames from UNLV and signed up to be the lowest paid coach in the Big 12 without hesitation.

We’ve been fortunate to turn our weaknesses into a strength over the decades when CFB has become more toxic in general like other big business in so many ways.

Cyclones vs. The World. Don’t count us out just yet.
