Anyone want to post if we are in any of those scenarios. Apologize in advance if it’s been posted.
Iam afraid the first few paragraphs might ring true and there will be no more realignment!
What do we do then
Most of y’all on here seem to want to
: hope for an A5 invite
: A5 playoff expansion to 8 or more
Time to think about a plan “ B”= make as much money as possible
In this post 2025 world stuck as a g5 what then ?
they mention 5 scenarios…What were they?
Googling I found a summary on reddit that says
"Good article, but here are the bullet points:
-
Scheduling alliances
-
Big 12 and/or PAC-12 expansion
-
Bluebloods go independent
-
P5 Coalition
-
College Football Premier League"
My feeling is the P5 is waiting for the G5’s to go the way of UCONN.
Those G5’s that can make it, might get picked up on expansion.
If you are in a big market and recruiting hot bed, you have a better
shot. As much as the odds are against us, we must win, and not just
conference, but the P5’s on our schedule. It is the only way.
We are in position with a P5 coach, P5 facilities, P5 recruiting but
we are at a disadvantage financially.
5 please 5. That means promotion and relegation. And it will never be introduced in American sports at any meaningful level due to money. I would just love Baylor, Vandy, BC and some of these schools to go through what we’ve gone through for a few years.
I wondered about that too. It’s be neat if there were alliances between, say, the big 12 and AAC where the worst team was demoted and best from AAC was promoted.
Big 12 and AAC
SEC and C-USA
PAC 12 and Big West
Big 10 and MAC
ACC and Sunbelt???
Hmm. Switch AAC and C-USA.
I’m telling ya some of these private schools that got lucky to be in these P5 conferences the minute they got relegated they would drop sports. Academics are number one to them once the money stopped and they had to actually invest in their athletic programs to get promoted again they would be gone.
There’s only really “lucky” private school. That’s Baylor, maybe TCU, maybe. The rest for the most part are original members, I mean I guess it’s luck that they got in on the better conferences at the ground floor.
Anyways promotion and relegation would be awesome for literally 95% of the college football world. So it will never happen.
Coogs and that is it. P5 will Never Make Me Stop Following my School plus Houston will always be relevant in Houston!!! I’ve already started the “next Generation to loving the Coogs” though my young kids…
Interesting table:
Also, their #5 option in regards to a Premier League idea is not what you think it is. Basically, they take 24 “blue-bloods” and those schools would feed into an 8 team playoff. There would be no moving up or down outside of those 24. Basically would make it a pro league and would probably end up being a disaster all the way around.
