5 years to play rule= more freshman playing in football earlier?

With the new five years to play rule, CWF may look to get the best of players the field at one time. Besides true. freshman besides Keyshawn Henderson, Paris Melvin and John Hebert. Who are true freshman that you think may work into the rotation sometime during the season. I listened to Parker Ainsworth today and he mentioned some freshman that may see the field earlier than we think. Here are some names we may want to look for… Javion Martin TE 6’4” 250, because he has good size and is considered a good pass catcher! Javen Holmes 6’2” DB We are always rotating guys in in the defensive backfield, he was ranked44th player in the state of Louisiana. Xavier Fleming 6’1”” 305 could be a part of the defensive line rotation.

Yes this means every healthy freshman recruit on the team is going to see the field.

No, not every healthy freshman, but the ones that are talented enough to help your team now! This class was talked about one of the better classes UH recruited in a long time! There is no question that experience is huge, but if you feel like a player can help you now, why wait!

When I went to school, we had a TRUE FRESHMAN step onto the field on day 1, and he was the best player on the team.

The next year, he was the best player in the conference.

His junior and senior years, he was the best player in the country.

So, yeah, if they have what it takes… play them.

You missed on that one. Point is if there is an opportunity to get them on the field a few snaps we will. Same for other sports.

My point is this 2026 recruit recruiting class has some talented kids on it. If the coaches feel like they can make us better by being in the rotation or even eventually becoming a starter, I will assure you that they are going to do that!

Paris Melvin will likely get more snaps than any of the other Freshman, followed by Keisean Henderson, and then Johnny Hebert.

There are a lot of schools where all three of these guys would be starters, which speaks to the depth of this roster.

Just my opinion. Don’t shoot me.

Yeah, I think those 3 will probably get out to the field some beforeother freshman. I thought it was interesting on. LOCKED ON COOG’s that Parker Ainsworth thinks freshman TE Jaivion Martin,Javen Holmes & Javen Flemingmay have a chance to work in the rotation as well.

I think Herbert will get more snaps than Henderson

I think you may be right! We might see Hebert playing more on special teams.

Had a Baylor grad in office yesterday, said Baylor athletics recalled some graduates and offered to double their salary of their first job to play out 5th year.

Damn, on one hand, that’s smart…

But on the other, they’re probably really needing experienced guys to help save Aranda’s season (assuming they do poorly).

Speaking of other cougar freshman that might see action this year… Locked on Coogs said that four players right now who are battling to be the backups on the offensive line. Two of them are true freshman Aaron Wolford 6’4”310 & Noah Abebe 6’4” 300. We will see how all of that shakes out as the season goes along, but more evidence that incoming the freshman class has a lot of talent!
