50 Year Anniversary of Tommy John Surgery

Can’t believe it has been 50 years. Most people don’t even know what Tommy John looks like. John did a number of interviews today. I remember John when he pitched for the Dodgers and Yankees. Here is the interview he did on the MLB Network.

Tommy John is second to Lou Gehrig for being known for raising the awareness of medical issues.

BTW, Tommy John surgery is technically known as ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction.

Mechanics and trying to throw harder than you can are his thoughts on why so many surgeries. It seems like the first often isnt taught at young age, and the second is all the focus that is put on the kids at a young age.
