They’re saying that this isn’t a relegation-based league when it literally is a relegation-based league proposal
This will never happen. Too many universities depend on a fixed college football revenue stream to plan their budgets both short term and long term. Also, too many other non-revenue sports depend on fixed revenue streams from football.
Will never happen. Do I hate what’s happening to CFB? Yes, but this type of proposal gives way too much power to the non-elite programs.
I think the operative words here are “college student”. No use in pretending now. "Why don’t they call it the “NFL Junior league”?
Will we make the cut I’m sure we are on the borderline but with our football team in shambles I think we are out unfortunately
we will never see relegation in sports in America…
If it’s going to go to some minor league BS then UH could save a lot of money by eliminating sports altogether. Houston already has the Rockets, Texans, Astros…etc
This won’t happen bc the p2 aren’t giving up control to some group proposing this.
I support this proposal to get out from under the NCAA for football. If not this proposal, something like it.
Biggest surprise to me? The committee called College Sports Tomorrow doesn’t have a member or ambassador from the University of Texas. Dee & Jimmy Haslam are Tennessee donors and a member, so the SEC is represented. No B1G or B12 members. B12 and SEC do have ambassadors.
This group has been trying to gain traction for this proposal for a couple years now, but it isn’t gonna happen. The SEC and B1G have thus far been entirely uninterested, as they probably should be; the main beneficiaries of this would be the other P5 schools.
That said, I do love this proposal in particular. But it’s not happening.
I can’t imagine B1G or SEC being interested in such a league. Their members would have to give up a lot of money!
Yep so not gonna happen. Even a breakaway isn’t happening. The p2 just want more playoff teams then they are good. A fair model would be no more than 7 from the big and sec in total then no more than 3 from the big12 and Acc in total then 1 ND and 1 G5 to get to 12 teams total.
I bet A&M and Texas love the idea of giving up Auburn, Bama, Georgia, etc. for a chance to play TCU, SMU, Baylor, and Tech every year again.
Good to see us listed in there
Sounds like a plan for who ever runs the CSFL to get a lot of money.
They would cover all negotiating of media and represent players in their NIL negotiations…What could go wrong?
Very similar situation for us when SWC was broken up. We’re in shambles and a little clueless about what was going on in CFB.
How did SMU get our spot in the Texas division and UH was put in the South Division?
I ask this as my right of a choosey beggar.
Where is Tulane?
They aren’t even in the 64 group of 8 unless I’m overlooking it.
Yes smu got the sweet spot but we have more of an sec slate so I’ll take it.
Still don’t see the p2 going for this and loss of control.
If this moves forward, this is where UH needs to politic to be in the Texas Division. Lessons learned from the SWC breakup and being added to the B12.
