#9 UH vs. Memphis 3/7 @ 11AM CST CBS (W 67-64)

Not expecting the game to be a cake walk, and I really don’t really care what changes Memphis has made. We’re at home and if we play our game I have no doubt we’ll win.

I just realized that this game will be on CBS. Big time.

He’s very talented and multidimensional, but appears to be a serious head case with a short fuse.

If DJ can keep his emotions in check (and he’s done an excellent job this season), he could get inside Williams head and turn him inside out. Should be a fun subplot to watch for.

Vote for Grimes… Again!!!

Yes, instead of Memphis getting us at their place on national tv, we get them here and the exposure. It would be nice if we can smoke them and solidify a 2 seed.

I think we deserve a 2 seed if we win out but I think they already have their 3 reasons to make us a 3 seed…

I wonder if early on we will attack Cisse relentlessly like we did Bassey when we played WKU. Cisse is a great rim protector, but if we get him in early foul trouble, it could open things up.

I think what might hurt us this week is our biggest guards aren’t quick off the dribble and Memphis has pretty good perimeter defenders. It may be more difficult for Grimes to get off clean shots this week. Hopefully Memphis, like everyone else, continues to dare Deeky to shoot. If he makes a couple of early 3s, things will open up for Grimes again. This would be a great game for Marcus to find his stroke again. If not, and Grimes has to work too hard for open looks, we’re going to need to attack hard off the dribble and take advantage of Memphis’ 16.6 turnovers per game for some easy buckets.

Keep in mind that Memphis forces 16.7 turnovers per game from their opponents while we average 11.1 per game. In a game featuring 2 really good defensive teams, I feel like turnover margin and points off turnovers could be the biggest stats to watch. If we can keep our turnovers at or below our average, I think we win this one comfortably (i.e., 8 our more points).

Someone want to give me odds on Grimes shooting from behind halfcourt in a non-buzzer beater scenario?

If we’re up by 15+ and he’s feeling it…it’d shock me, but just a little.

CKS would never let that happen.

Edit: -000- % odds

I wouldn’t be surprised to see another logo distance shot if he’s in the mood to heat check.

If he’s on fire I bet he would. CKS said on the coaches show he loved that grimes took it in the USF game. He also said the hardest times in practice when he gets on to Quinten is when he doesn’t shoot enough

Took what in the game? A 30-32 ft shot is not the same as shooting from behind the half court line for the heck of it. W/o a shot clock violation or end of gm/half that’s not happening. That’s showing up the other team n CKS will not allow that. #ComeOnMan

I’m more talking about if he’s made 4-5 shots in row I could see him shooting from the logo again early in the shot clock. I misread that post. Your probably right, I highly doubt hed try from behind half court

If you take the ‘doubt’ part out then we agree. Even the logo can be diff of up to 7-11 ft. Anyway I couldn’t let that one go.

What I like about Sunday’s game is that we have actually been challenged and even threatened to an extent.
This game might be our best tune up for the dance we will have this year.
And I don’t care if we get a two or three seed, I am just ready for the dang thing to come on.
Win or lose I think we get a three seed. I truly wish we were playing this game at Memphis because we need to beat someone decent on the road…
But Memphis is the one who screwed up, so if we are only going to play one game I will happily take it here so I can see it in person…

To secure a #2 seed, we need to beat Memphis and win the AAC Tournament.

Plus, we need for programs above us to lose games, conference tournament or otherwise.

Other than UH, the perception of the AAC is not valued very highly.

Our March 2020 Memphis game is on YouTube. From The Fertitta Center.

We wore them down in the second half. Won by 7.

Predict this type of game happens again.

I think the Committee rt now has us in anywhere from #7-9 overall spot. They will get it very close imo. Don’t under sell them. This isn’t the AP voters/writers. When the Top 16 was released on 2/13 they had us #8 which was on point.

I feel like the committee has their mind made up before the end of conference tournies
