Well, ole miss no longer has their HC.
How many players are actually thinking about transferring to lsu, stay healthy and risk an injury?
By the same cfp logic ole miss should be immediately be ejected from all cfp contention. This is how ridiculous the cfp decision was a couple of years ago.
The difference with ole miss and fsu?
ole miss is in the sec. fsu is in the acc. Do you think the sec wants to lose that money?

Ole Miss is 11-1. They are in, and its their own choice for Lane K not to coach them in playoffs. Foolish choice by them. But they are IN, and they should be. NO ONE is going to leave before the playoffs. Everyone wants to win a natty…FSU lost both 1st and 2nd team QBs and were not invited to the much smaller 4 team playoff…Unfair to FSU but thats why they didnt get a bid.
No… it’s pretty much the same scenario for Ole Miss now that Lane left… the CFP has already said they will consider coaching changes and player injuries when making their rankings…

And by that logic neither should Tulane, North Texas nor James Madison.
I like your thinking Monte. You are trying to make sense of it but your HC leaves? That in itself is causing disarray. Therefore by cfp standards not one single player is emotionally available for the cfp.
The cfp started a precedent…that should have never happened. Now it is starring them right back in their faces.
You punish players but…you don’t punish the TEAM’S LEADER, THE HC?

4 team playoff and 12 team playoff are 2 very different things.
Not for team 4 and team 12… or better yet; team 5 and team 13…
Ole Miss should be on the bubble with BYU, Bama, ND and Miami…
Losing your head coach prior to the playoffs is worth how many wins…?
Was Lane worth 2 wins as head coach alone? If yes, then Ole Miss should be gone…

We used to have only 4 Playoff teams with 5 Power Conferences.
One got left out.
And it used to be worse. The BCS had only 2 teams play for the National Title.
Id rank a really good qb above the HC at this point in the season. Even if the HC is the play caller.
Keep Sumlin and take away Case for the bowl game against Penn State. How does that turn out.
Any ways you “mix it” it is an horrible look for the cfp.
How did it work out against Southern Miss when Sumlin had one foot out the door?

Kiffin is already gone though. The distraction is over and everyone knows the deal.
I say keep them in there. They’re definitely going to get exposed and next year we can point back at them and say the SEC shouldn’t get the benefit of the doubt.
