We will see how this goes.
Please don’t make this a political issue even though it’s somewhat presented as such. It is unfortunate to see how AI can rely on misinformation and we have to be careful with that.
That doesn’t mean throw it all away but we do have to be cautious.
I’ve tried to correct chatbot previously. It will recognize I’m correct and say it will make changes but when I come back later and ask the same question it gives me the exact same wrong answer. It’s done it multiple times to the point that I firmly believe its not “AI” but just more complicated algorithms*.
*I also had an experience selling equipment a few years back with an “AI” connection that was just that, complicated algorithms marketed as “AI”.
That’s pretty typical in my experience unless you are working with it in a project where it saves that kind of stuff based on your conversations.
A lot of uses for chatbots refer to the time saved in research etc, but it must be verified. You can’t assume it’s correct. As the old saying says. When you assume, you make an “as$ out of u and me”.
I had to keep after one chatbot to finally
accept the fact a certain university was not
AAU. I worked with it for period of weeks, but
it finally “learned”
It’s concerning these things are spewing
back misinformation they find; of course people do it too. Always check the sources it uses.
In the future I’m concerned it will be very difficult to actually determine the truth for any of us.
Mundus Vult Decipi Ergo Decipiatur or “The World Wants to Be Deceived So Let It Be Deceived.”
You are completely right, and I owe you an apology!
Yes, that exact reply every time. That’s not “artificial intelligence” that’s a simple if/then programming response.
A friend had this experience a couple days ago. They asked for some skin care advice and received a recommendation of mixing two methods. Sounded good.
Then two minutes later they asked a question about those two methods combined and it responded that doing them together would likely cause skin burns. “AI” can suck.
