The Rise
The past week featured thrillers in conference play as Houston held off Tulsa’s bid for the tying touchdown inside the 1-yard line as time expired and Temple completed a comeback from an 18-point deficit against UCF by scoring the game-winning touchdown with one second left.
All 12 teams in the conference will be in action in Week 8 highlighted by the top two teams in both the American Athletic Conference’s East and West divisions facing each other. In the west, Navy and Memphis, the only two unbeaten teams in conference play will face off in a key divisional matchup, while in the East USF visits Temple as the Owls look to forge a first-place tie with the Bulls.
We bring you a special story today from Eastern North Carolina, where the region is currently recovering from Hurricane Matthew. While games had to be rescheduled and relocated, school had to be cancelled, and many had to evacuate… it is times like these that show a community’s true colors… and in Greenville those colors are very purple and gold.
