That is more than a 5% point swing from positive 2.5% to negative 2.8%. Yikes.

Gulp and the stock market is down almost 900 points this afternoon.

A well thought out opinion, with facts that support
the opinion position, would be good.

Markets don’t like uncertainty and that’s where we are at.

Sometimes markets don’t like the certainty they see as well.

Sec of Agriculture says the solution to high egg prices for Americans is to get some chickens and raise them in your backyard. I didnt think we would be here this soon. Yet here we are.

They just throw it out there making it sound easy. Raising chickens at home for eggs, requires significant work setting it up and to maintain, with a likely net result of costs per eggs being more expensive. But some will cheer it and say “Merica.

Really stupid idea for several reasons. One, many people don’t have
backyards and even those that do have restrictions that prevent farming
in suburbs. Two, seems like another way to expose more people to evolving bird flu. Three, as mentioned, cost and additional chores.

These are not serious people.

We will see some Karen complain on TikTok about her HOA that won’t let her raise chickens in her neighborhood. Then complain her chickens eggs are brown.

How? Serious question.

I don’t think I’m old enough to technically be a “boomer” but the people next door moved home to Montana and are currently renting their house….i always find it strange when someone has the money to pay 5-6k for rent but can’t buy a house……anyway, hillbilly Jim’s Jet skis are going to disappear if he doesn’t have them gone by this weekend……I have asked nicely twice( which is rare for me)……but you can’t have boats, RV’s , etc. For more than a day and it’s been two weeks.

Be honest, am I being a dick? It’s clearly in the HOA rules….i paid more money then I should have 20 years ago to get into this neighbourhood and it paid off….home values have skyrocketed and I’d like to keep it that way.

I mean a little bit, but you’ve asked nicely twice. It’s clearly stated in the rules, so I’m not opposed.

I will say I’m anti- your justification. In that it’s about property values, obviously this or even several instances through the neighborhood most likely would not effect property values on the whole.

I’m more receptive to, “The simple fact is that it’s the rules, we all have to follow them, and I follow them. You are not special Jim Bob, get with the program”

I hate HOAs and their rules, but without them things would get out of hand. The rules have to be followed and enforced or there is no point in having them.

I had a CT scan on my lungs. I have nodules and the first question the doctor asked “did you raise chickens?”

I thought this was poignant today…

Good luck on the scan sir. Hope it went
well.

Don’t think I’ve ever had a doctor ask me that.

Just a few days ago Buffett said, “Actually, we’ve had a lot of experience with tariffs, they’re an act of war, to some degree,” as quoted by New York Post. Buffett called the tariffs an “act of war” because, in his view, they essentially act as a tax on goods that get passed onto consumers, which can have long-term negative effects on the economy.

Buffett said, “Over time, they are a tax on goods. I mean, the tooth fairy doesn’t pay ’em!” quoted New York Post. He also questioned the possible outcome and emphasized that “then what? You always have to ask that question in economics. You always say, And then what?”, as quoted in the report.

I think we’ve seen enough evidence that corporations will only bring industry back to the USA in 2 ways; tax breaks & reduced regulation or tariffs. I don’t think tax breaks have been very effective.

What about the cost of labor ? Would need pretty big break to overcome the labor differential wouldn’t you ?
