I’ve been very clear about how I feel about trade imbalances, often directly with you. Others have as well. Read my posts before on it. I’m not going to keep repeating myself.
And please don’t make this about a politician. Stick to the issue.

Not about a p…?
Seriously you expect me to believe that?
I don’t expect you to do believe anything. But we aren’t going to go there.
It’s not just the tariffs. Our economy is in real trouble. Trucking is about to shut down. It’s gonna be BAAAADDD.
Waiting and seeing will not change that. It’s happening in real time.
1 A trade imbalance is not necessarily a bad thing.
Agricultural ==> industrial manufacturing ==> services ==> next big thing
Advanced economies want to be on the right most step of economic progression.
2 Tariffs are a tax. They are a regressive tax and market manipulation tool.
Tariffs result in more expensive imports and more expensive domestic products. They kill competition to make and develop the best product.
All legitimate economists understand this.
3 All out trade war will cause massively bad recession.
The same economists that predicted an economical crash in 2016?
How did that prediction turn out?
Name names or don’t go there.
We are talking about fundamentals of economics here. It’s as basic as it gets
as to what is being proposed and the known consequences of such actions.
Name names?
How many economists predicted a deoression in 2016?
Look it up.
I’m guessing any predictions were based on specific policy proposals, some of which didn’t happen. That said, you will have to share specifically what you’re talking about for anyone to opine.
I also think someone around is underselling the scope and escalations of the current policies vs 2016 policies which were much more toe in the pond style. And we still had too bribe/bailout farmers across the land to make up for their products being unable to sell to the tune of billions of dollars.
Plus the fact that those in charge turn the tariffs on and off based on feelings makes then completely ineffective as a tool.
Hilarious considering this is a thread started and continued with numerous posts that saw economic downturn at every corner since 2021 that never came but now supposedly everything will be fine despite the many red flags and even the open admission that “pain” is coming and will have to be endured. Funny that…
You bectha I will. I am at a conference right now. When I am able I will oblige.
Oh boy, I can’t wait for him to hit the bookmarked sites on his browser and share with us all.
I don’t see how the current policies mirror 2016. If they did we wouldn’t have the current concerns
They don’t really outside of the word “tariffs”
So tariffs are ok and the only reason to be against them is dislike for someone not price increases, jobs lost, economies tanking and massive uncertainties in budget and other business decisions? Ok
We should always be skeptical of a politician who offers too simple a solution to a complex problem.
So if we had zero Tariffs we would have zero Mafia crime.
Got it.
