And So it Begins; Players Announcing Transfer

Unfortunately we won’t be playing them anymore sure enjoyed beating their butts twice in basketball last year though

I read Boise has the same issue.

These NIL contracts are going to have to be more specific…as in “you will pay a severe monetary penalty (breach of contract) if you do not play in every game in the season, including bowl games/playoff (barring injury) or if you enter the transfer portal before the end of your school’s season”

Right now, the majority of these NIL deals are handshake agreements (as in the UNLV QB case) and not iron clad contracts that could be backed up by litigation.

Are these kids signing agents in high school now?

Still think this NIL era is going to get a million times more complex and sophisticated.

Just think about UH- who is drafting all of these custom NIL contracts this fast?

No one is stopping the NIL patron from putting anything in the contracts, and they may have them in the contracts. They are private contracts and everything is just hearsay and rumors.

The State of Texas has a state NIL law that was amended in 2023. It is contained in Section 51.9246 of the Education Code. Section 51.9246(g)(2)(B)(i-iv) of the Education Code prohibits NIL “…in exchange for athletic performance…”

At the very least, the spirit of the law is being broken or someone if pushing the envelope to the edge of the table.

You never know, we just might meet them in the CFP.

Yuck

Things are going to have to change when profit sharing starts, and the universities are literally paying them to play starting in July.

expectations will be pretty high for them next season

So they’ll go 7-5

I’m hoping it blows up on them and we can troll them mercilessly

Looking forward to profit sharing evening the playing field a bit. Also having caps on NIL.

Their coach is a poor mans Jimbo/Deion. Hes a total gimmick & reliant on coordinators. Wouldn’t be shocked if they pull an Aggie and went 7-5 & Joey gets shitcanned

I hope our new big men upfront put him on his you know what all game long next year.

Tech fans already running their mouths on X. Somehow having to spend heaps of cash to convince players to come to Lubbock is validating for them lol

Tech fans are about as nasty and classless as it comes in college football. I’d expect nothing less from Tortilla Throwing University

I hope Pancake whoops his butt when we play them

lol absolutely nothing to brag about if you root for texas tech. Our program was relegated & we’ve somehow had more success in the last 15 years.

I am surprised that Shiel Wood only lured 1 guy off our defense to tech. And that might have taken a bag to get it done too

Willie Fritz snd his entire staff brought very little over from Tulane player wise. And Tulane had plenty of talent. The players that did come over like Webb for instance seem to be close to Fritz. Therefore, I would have been surprised if Wood leaving would have any kind of a significant effect on our players wanting to follow suit
