Anonymous Big 12 coach feels Houston is 'still a year off' in rebuild under Willie Fritz - On3

If so, how patient are the fans going to be?

You ask that question as if there’s a choice.

And we’ve expected and said as much on here. No one thinks we’re gonna be conference champs and in the CFP this upcoming season.

Look at what they said about Arizona State before last season…and look how they actually did.

We play in the Big 12…not the P2.

Of course we have a shot…the Big 12 is a very balanced conference

“Still a year off.” I say what is the rush?

A year off what? Making a bowl? Yah that would probably cause some discontent. But if it’s a year off of competing for a conference championship and we make some real progress this year, then CWF will be fine.

Competing for a big 12 championship? I bet Houston gets 8-9 wins this year.

3 non conference wins and 5-4 seems realistic. Next year 7-2 in conference and fighting for the big 12

UH is winning the national championship THIS season.

I can see Fritz being on the hot seat if we aren’t in a bowl game this year.

You should see his buyout, it’s just north of 5mil after the end of the third season. AD is not scared to let go of Fritz if there’s a serious lack of production.

I lived through our glory days with Bill Yeoman Jack Pardee so in that sense I am still enjoying House Money. Simple fact you can’t win at chess playing only with pawns. The string gets short when you’re 86 years old.

You can see a coach being on the hot seat at the end of his second year of a major rebuild? Who are you trying to imitate? Nebraska?

You got to see Yeoman, Pardee, Andre win the Heisman, Case break records, saw the fall from grace, saw the resurgence and the return to a power conference.

You saw Phi Slama Jama, the fall to Brooks and Dickey and the return with Sampson.

You really are playing with house money.

There are a few of us that fit in that category. First year at UH was in '76.

The schedule is on UH favour. I think winning 8 games is a nice bar to set. I think the article is thinking as possibly playing in the playoffs and not a bowl game.

A lot of new personnel, so it’s plausible to think we could lose some games early due to lack of continuity and familiarity with each other.
