Another Boeing Crash

Newer 787 dreamliner with 242 people
on board crashed after takeoff in India.

Seems like 2025 has been a bad year for
air crashes. Boeing stock down 8%.

Just horrible….Boeing better hope this was pilot error….

They are not too big to fail.

Terrible situation for the people and families involved.

I hope it was too for the Bowing worker’s sake as they are the ones who get canned when the stock goes down. If it meant the bean counting, “share holder value”, vampire, MBA’s from McDonell Douglas on their butts (or heads on spikes) and the engineers back in charge then that would be a net positive for the entire industry. Then I would hope differently.

If im not mistaken India has questionable pilot requirements compared to USA. But thats just to add nuance here.

I have a HS friend that is a flight attendant. She says the DL is the most complex passenger craft built after 1986. That it might have been a lack of training

The Dreamliner has a good track record. Flying more than 10 years.

But just horrible for the victims.

Hate to get into speculation, but the surviving
passenger reported a loud noise before the plan crashed and the pilot did a “mayday”.
On that sketchy information it would seem like
something was wrong on the plane. But if we are already blaming pilots, seems like it’s fair to question the plane too at this point.

Usually engine out is not enough to cause crash. Its impossible to speculate rn

Not setting proper V1 and V2, that can get everyone killed. Especially if pilots automated their takeoff

As always, pilot error, mechanical failure, maintenance error, or combination of those three.

Some additional details is it looks like flaps were up, they were taking off on a shorter than usual 787 takeoff length, and the air was extremely dense up to 3000 feet.

Almost certain was a V1 V2 calculation error. Full fuel, full cabin to london. Looked like an overweight craft for the runway length, leading to premature rotation.

No one was blaming pilots. I was told its a complex aircraft for which one needed extensive in-air training. But since we’re using fallacies maybe we can blame a mouse in the hydraulic lines

Shoot just watched a breakdown thinking it might of been first officer’s error accidentally raising flaps instead of gear. The answer has to lie in between that and what i posted. (Not an aviator, just a dork that flies them in sim).

I know for a fact they optioned a shorter runway. Engines looked fine, and they clearly had flight controls. Its that loss of lift after rotation that is telling

That is pretty tragic. I’m just thinking of the fallout for everyone’s family and friends who don’t get to see their loved one ever again. There are a lot of people having to explain to the passengers with children that their mommy and/or daddy aren’t coming home.

See post above and below yours. What Danny has posted would say pilot
error(s). So you’re left with pilot error, mechanical failure, maintenance failure,
or combination of those 3 things. Weather and birds do not appear to be a factor
here from what the videos show and has been reported. I don’t know, but read on.

Notably, video of the aircraft in flight captures minimal engine noise and a distinct high-pitched whine consistent with deployment of the ram air turbine (RAT). The RAT is a backup power source that automatically deploys when both engines lose power or when there is a complete loss of electrical power. Its activation strongly suggests a dual engine failure or loss of electrical power associated with engine failure.

Loss of ADS-B Data Loss

Investigators will also look at the loss of ADS-B (Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast) data at an altitude of approximately 625 feet. ADS-B is a system that determines the aircraft’s position and periodically broadcasts this and other data, enabling the aircraft to be tracked in real time. The ADS-B system will not work if the plane’s transponder is not working or not powered. The failure of the ADS-B could point to a potential electrical failure on the aircraft.

Landing Gear Remained Extended

The landing gear of the Boeing 787 is operated by the hydraulic system. There are three independent hydraulic systems on the 787: Left, Right, and Center, with the Center Hydraulic system providing 5,000 psi of pressure. The Center Hydraulic system is powered by two high-flow electric motor-driven pumps. The Center Hydraulic system can also receive backup hydraulic power from a Ram Air Turbine (RAT) in an emergency.

The Boeing 787 was designed with a unique landing gear retraction system that is not found on any other Boeing aircraft.The Landing Gear Control and Indication System (LGCIS) will optimize the reaction time on takeoff to reduce aerodynamic drag, increasing both safety and efficiency. The Landing Gear Electronic United (LEGU) monitors the weight on wheels and as the aircraft begins to lift off the runway, will open the landing gear doors automatically without pilot input in anticipation of gear retraction.

In the initial video of the accident 787 lifting off, it appears that the landing gear doors may not have opened as designed. Investigators will examine what potential system failures might have contributed to the landing gear not operating as expected.

Another point of examination for investigators will be the position of the landing gear. In the video evidence, the landing gear of the 787 remains down for the entirety of the doomed flight. It is standard practice in all airline operations to raise the landing gear as soon as the aircraft begins a “positive rate” of climb within seconds of lifting off from the runway. This landing gear retraction should be made even if the aircraft were to experience an engine failure, and would be especially important in order to reduce drag as much as possible. Investigators will question why the crew did not raise, or could not raise, the landing gear.

I never speculate crashes tbh, i believe in the theory that things are just covered more so we learn about crashes instantly rather a week two weeks later via newspaper or never.

I only jumped in this one because of the 787 being adored by pilots, and it being fly by wire, with a superb safety record. Everyone is quick to blame Boeing.

I’m not a huge fan of flying. I flew back from Denver to houston Wednesday. Thr bad weather had us circling around Fredericksburg for 30 to 45 minutes.

My mom worked for Texas Air, Continental, and United from 1977 to 2014. She hated it after United took over and retired at age 58.

Flaps not deployed. That equals no lift. That equates with inability to climb, and glide down to crash.

This was not a Boeing issue. Need to know what the hell was going on in the cockpit prior to and during takeoff.

Now the lone survivor is saying the lights on the plane started to flicker prior
to crash.

"Suddenly, the lights started flickering – green and white – then the plane rammed into some establishment that was there,” he claimed.

Previously he said earlier there a loud noise on the plane prior to the crash too.

I wouldn’t rule out sabotage either, but since no group is taking credit, it would seem unlikely.

They have found both black boxes; one is damaged but believed to be useable.
