I took a long break from here and just read the 6/24-6/25 post so I will bite.
First of all, I am not antisemitic and not even against Israel (as a state). While you do have a lot of truths in your discourse, it’s hard to see much in the way of objectivity when you continue to paint Israel as a constant victim, even when many of their own decisions and actions are playing a large part in the continue saga in Gaza and Israel.
I think this has been covered ad nauseum, but every sane person has been steadfastly against the incursion and stood with Israel in protecting itself. What we’ve seen however, is a response that went beyond reasonable and transitioned into the pursuit of a a clear agenda; Israel using the incursion as an excuse to seize the Gaza strip and use the atrocities for gains that go beyond defense.
For all of the crying of Jewish oppression, the IDF has treated the Palestinians of the West Bank like pond scum for decades. This is something that was largely concealed and kept out of the public eye during the first 3 decades of occupation. Since the mid 90s, more and more stories, truths, and evidence have surfaced about the oppression, thievery, and treatment perpetrated by (some) Israelis and their government.
More or less, the oppression at the hands if the Israeli government is (at the very least) partly responsible for the very same terrorist groups they fighting against. Oppression and land stealing breeds discontent, prolonged discontent leads to extremism, and extremism leads to violence. Hamas is as large and dangerous as it is because of Israel’s (the government’s own stupidity).
You know the old addage ‘kill them with kindness’? Thats what Israel should have been doing for decades. If the neighbor with more money and power would stop stealing land and treat the average Palestinian with respect, Hamas would struggle to recruit. More Palestinians woild be compelled to turn in Hamas cells, and both sides collaborate to work toward peace. Its an ideology MLK had a great understanding of during the Civil Rights movement. Many world leaders, particularly Netanyahu, would benefit by taking a page from this book.
In summation, (almost) everyone thought the attack on innocent Israelis was terrible. Nobody agreed with that. That doesnt mean Israeli, as a government, bore no culpability into the lead up to an attack. Years of oppression and illegal Israeli settlements helped fuel the fire that was Hamas. Much like Fanta Menace and his mountain of proven lives, nobody is buying Netanyahus manipulation and sob story. He’s an awful leader who puts personal agenda above morality, reason, and even the law.
